Went to NY for spring break with our teenagers and stayed in a Times Square view room for a week. Amazing view of the Good Morning America studio on Times Square (and all the people, lights, and excitement on Times Square)! The view was mesmerizing. The room had a pull out love seat that our teenage son slept on so our teenage daughter and son didn't have to sleep in the same bed. The room was large enough (with the sofa couch closed) for us to walk around and to put all of our suitcases. The curtains were well made to keep the lights of Broadway out of our room at night. We were on the 23rd floor but could still hear sirens, jack hammering, honking, and other street noise, but we were tired enough to mainly sleep through it. The hotel itself was amazing and staff all friendly. Concierge made us reservations for dinner on several nights at family friendly but nice restaurants. It was great to not worry about where we were going to eat or how long we would have to wait. We did not eat at the hotel. We ate breakfast at Junior's across the street and it was good food at decent NY prices. Our room was always clean and everything worked. The hotel is right in the middle of everything, so it was a great hotel to stay in for our first visit. We walked or took the subway everywhere - never had to use a cab. The elevators are pretty interesting in this hotel. A computer controls which person goes to which elevator - you push your floor number on a number panel and it tells you which elevator to go to. You don't push numbers inside the elevator. Can be frustrating because the computer doesn't know how many people are in your party or how many suitcases you may have with you, so elevators can fill up and you have to wait for that one to leave before you can push in your number again. Only a real problem during check in or check out time. Overall, a fantastic hotel and we would recommend it. Would be great for families or couples.

Room Tip: Pay extra for a Times Square view room - worth it!!!!

Terrible!!! Check in was like checking into a brothel, the lady sat there in a mini skirt with her legs apart...not a pretty picture. Complained. Paid $$$ for Times Square view, got a side view when you glued your face to the window. Complained. received $25 voucher which does not even cover breakfast & moved to a better view room. Rooms old but clean. Apart from the location (right on Times Square) & the view there isn't much, unless you like the ride in the glass elevator.

I've stayed in NYC a number of times, most often at the Marquis due to their location and value. Rooms are of a good size. Of course the higher up your floor, the quieter your stay will be. We had an executive size room which had a king bed and pull out queen sofa which suited our young girls fine. The room felt modern and the bathroom was large enough that a few of us could be in there at one time.

We had concierge level access. The club was nice but it seemed as though half the people in the hotel had club access. The lines for food and drink were usually very long and often there was not a seating table available. The hotel needs a second club location. Some guests seemed to be getting their only calories for the day through the club - which was a little obnoxious.

Location was the best. Can't beat access to Broadway, subways, everything. The eighth floor lobby was very nice with differing eating venues. During my prior stay here at the Marriott Marquis (prior to 2005), the hotel did not have the new elevator software, and let me tell you, the elevators run MUCH better now. Typically no more than a 2-3 minute wait and then very fast once you board.

Room Tip: Higher floors are better. Don't pay for the valet parking. There are very nearby lots for 1/2...

Just checked out of the Marquis today and loved our stay here! The location was perfect for NYC 1st timers like me. It is in the center of the Times Square insanity. It is close to the subway, shopping and broadway theaters. We watched Annie which was right across the street!
We arrived at the front desk at 1pm after a 9 1/2 hour red eye flight from Honolulu and were overjoyed to find out our room was ready so we could nap, shower and eat before we started sightseeing. I highly recommend filling out the early request form that marriott sends via email a few days before you arrive. We requested a high floor (41st floor with floor to ceiling city and Hudson river views) extra towels and a mini fridge which were all in the generously sized room! The room was very quiet and you could not hear the crowds below. The staff was friendly and our house keeper was excellent. She gave us bottled water and the room was cleaned each day. Do stay here if you want the whole NYC experience!

My family and I stayed at this hotel for 3 days while in NYC for my sister's orientation to Fordham university. All I can say is WOW. What a great location, right in the heart of Times Square! It was about a 10 minute or less car ride to the University, Union Square, Central Park, museums, etc! The hotel has an area by Valet where there are attendants to help you get a cab. The room service was good, but pricey. McDonald's is across the street and Bubbu Gump is a few blocks away, cheap food and great view of Times Square. Starbucks is located on the check-in lobby floor, there is also a convenience store that is attached to Starbucks. The rooms were clean and quiet, considering the location of the hotel, noise was not a negative factor. Only issue we had was checking in, the attendant was not very helpful. Besides that, everything else was great and I would come back in a heart beat!

It is right in the middle of Times Square. Check in was quick and we were given a room with a view of a part of Times Square without paying the extra $70 per night. The room was clean and way bigger than I thought a New York hotel would be.

Stayed here while attending a big conference. Accommodations are great, rooms are comfortable and quiet, and this is a great location for restaurants, theaters, people watching after business is done for the day. Downside is that there is not a great deal of security for the public areas so you do get a lot of random traffic in the lobby and restaurants, and the conference food was just average.
