“Small rooms, Small bed, Big price”
Reviewed 17 December 2013

The Lexington is nice and has a great mid-town location. The room was nice, but very small compared to other places we have stayed. The bathroom was clean, but the cold water faucet was not secure, which made it difficult to operate. I thought the bed was supposed to be a queen, but it seemed more like a double bed. I supposedly got a deal, but even so it was just too much money for what it is. It is NYC and things are just that expensive there.

Stayed here this past weekend and was highly disappointment in the quality and service at this hotel. This was not a Marriott hotel I would like to stay at again. The one plus is the location of this hotel. If you want to stay near Times Square this is a great location and not in all the craziness of the area. But other than that its down hill.
I made reservations for two rooms and made a request that the rooms be near each other, which they did manage to have. However we needed to be on a lower floor and you would have thought that was the biggest problem in the world. I first checked in just before 9am and they told me one room was being cleaned and the other the past guest didn't check out. Which was fine I expected that. I was able to get 1 room by 10:30, but it took us until 7:30pm to get the other room and were told 10 different things by 4 or 5 people. First at 4:30 we were told we could move the second room to a higher floor or wait 45 minutes for the room to be cleaned. We waited an hour later room not cleaned then told there were no we could not move. I then went and spoke to the manager who changed the story again and said they room was being deep cleaned including carpets and it would be good in 30 minutes. We finally decided to go to dinner and come back just at about 7:30 to find the room still not cleaned and ready, but they did give us the keys and told us housekeeping will be up soon with the sheets and towels (they ran out).
We requested extra towels all nights but only had them for 1 night and actually only had towels for 1 person in a 2 double bed room the second night. Are double bed room did not have a flushing toliet. We had to go to the lobby in the middle of the night to use a bathroom. Window was broken and bathroom was freezing. The single room we had was nice expect the window was frosted over so even if you wanted to open the blinds and let in a little light you couldn't.
Baggage check in was crazy. It was a 30 minute wait to check in your bags when we were checking out.

Stayed here for 10 nights overall from 22nd Nov to 2nd Dec. The first portion of the trip was business and then the wife flew out for the last few days. This is a perfect hotel for NYC - great location - Grand Central or 51st St/Lex Station are both only a few blocks walk. Staff were consistently polite, accommodating, attentive and respondent. Bar was a little understocked for my liking but you don't visit NYC to sit in your hotel bar! Rooms were clean, comfortable, well kept and nicely arranged. I developed a great rapport with the front desk, concierge and the lovely lady who cleaned my room - oh for service like this in the UK!! There maybe a couple of things they didn't 'upgrade' when they 'upgraded' the hotel, like the insides of the built-in wardrobes, but that didn't bother me. Yes the walls are a little thin, but again, you don't visit NYC to sit in your hotel room! We were originally meant to check out for thanksgiving and visit some friends upstate, staying over and then coming back and checking in the next day. Plans changed at the last minute and the front desk were brilliant - gave me the lowest rate in my pre-booked package for the additional night and let us stay in the same room. The only real bug bear I had was the coffee situation - there is a starbucks in the lobby so there is no coffee in the rooms - why give it away when you can charge for it :-)
I will definitely be back here - visit NY fairly regularly and this is brilliant, reasonable, accommodating and comfortable.

Room Tip: If you are really fussy about noise, ask for a high floor. I got one on the 24th floor. Pay the ex...

We have stayed at many Marriott properties and this one was very special. Marriott purchased this property in 2012 and according to one of the employees it has been a good move for the employees. The rooms are not large but they have two bathrooms and two closets so his/hers separation is easy. There are also several dining choices on site. The location is good.

Stayed here for one night this week, to a sold out hotel. Room was small but well appointed. WAs able to fit a queen size bed, two night stands, desk/chair, smalll dresser and nice flat screen tv on the wall. Small closet. Bathroom small but adequate. Toilet fit between sink and wall. If overweight, you could have a tight squeeze! Unfortunately when we finally went to sleep, we saw that there was NO blanket/comforter/duvet on the bed. Had to call front desk, and to their credit they did bring regular blankets up quickly, but it was annoying that bed had not been made. Upon waking in the moring, found out that the clock had not been changed back for daylight savings time, and so, i thought i had woken up after 7am, but in fact it had only been 6am. Also annoying but can deal. The most annoying part is the PARKING!!! They charge $50 to park your car, which although annoying, is always done in NYC and big city hotels. But for $50 you do expect service. First we asked how much it would cost to leave the car one extra hour, so we could leave it until after we saw our play. Front desk called and said that it would be $37 extra for each hour, and that they could not give us a break, as the garage was privately owned. OK. The main problem was when we left, they said it would be "30 minutes to wait to get the car!". That just seemed too long. While out in front of the hotel, there were a lot of angry people. One who was told it would be a 30 minutes and it was now an hour wait, and they had to catch a plane at Laguardia! Another who said she had complaints and got a free night! Another stated she had money stolen from her car.
We could not afford to wait 30-60 minutes for our car and so my husband walked to pick it up himself, (he was told he could). (once there he saw that the garage actually chageded $40, so its nice that they tacked on an additional $10 for hotel guests and provided very poor service for that $10) . The garage also had his car number written down incorrectly and so it took a very long time for them to locate our car!
Anyway, went to front desk to complain, and they took the charge of the garage off, which was appropriate and appreciated and smart on their part. We saw a HUGE line of customers WAITING to store their luggage for the day. only 2 bellhops, who were overwhelmed and cranky, understandably. Im sure they were verbally abused by many customers waiting so slong to check their luggage while they wanted to go out on the town. It just appears that the hotel did not hire the staff to service a sold out night in Manhattan. There was one man in the front of the hotel, also overwhelmed, dealing with the cars, taxi's, check in etc. Just not enough service, which then leads right off the bat with disgruntled customers. That said, if you don't drive your car, it can be a better experience. The hotel has a nice lobby, with a Starbucks attached. The lobby has lots of comfy chairs, sofa's and long table to read, meet with friends etc. There is also a nice bar in the lobby with good seating. Great place to hang out. In addition the location is a good one. Convenient to Times Square, Rockafeller Center, Grand Central Station etc. It is near Waldorf Astoria, intercontinental and Marriott Hotels! DONT BRING YOUR CAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Room Tip: Dont use the garage! If there for a special occasion, tell them at the front desk at check in and th...

We just finished checking in for a 4 night stay at this property and are already regretting the decision. When we arrived at 8:15 PM there was a line nearly out the door for check. There is a separate welcome area for Gold & Platinum rewards members, but of course there were no employees at that desk so we were stuck waiting in line. During our 25 minute wait we watched a bell hop walk two separate guests to the front of the line for check in, bypassing the rest of us. After finally getting to the front of the line and beginning the check in process we explained to the employee that we had two separate reservations totaling 4 nights (we added an extra night on at the last minute), the employee abruptly walked away from us without saying a word and took two other desk employees to the back room, leaving us standing there without knowing what was going on. When she finally returned she continued the check in process by apologizing for the delay, but still not explaining why she left. During the check in process there was no recognition or mention of our gold status until we brought it up and she said "Your gold status entitles you to 750 points or breakfast, which would you like?"

We stay exclusively at Marriott affiliated properties and this is nowhere near the level of service we are accustomed to receiving.

The room is decent, but the shower is dirty and the bed is most definitely not a Marriott bed. It is hard and covered with the equivalent of the comforter and sheets they usually have in the closet for a pull out sofa.

This is my first post on trip advisor, as I feel this is a bad enough experience for others to be made aware of.

If you want a real Marriott Autograph Collection experience, stay at The Carlton on Madison Avenue. We have stayed at that property on four separate occasions and it is leaps and bounds above The Lexington.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else
