“A Diamond in Times Square”
Reviewed 6 July 2014 via mobile

We checked into the Times Square Renaissance mid afternoon on the Fourth of July, probably the busiest day of the year in NYC. The staff was so accommodating, never showing a sign frustration or impatience, in spite of or large party and the never ending line of guests.

They even gave us directions to the best place in the city to watch fireworks. The rooms were incredible, with only the finest amenities and linens available.

When we checked out, we had some time to kill before our train, so the staff offered to keep our luggage at the hotel until we were ready. All in all an excellent trip at an excellent hotel.

My husband and I had a flight that got cancelled so we decided to head into the city, spend the night and continue our flight plans the next day. After a frustrating day of sitting around at the airport, we were delighted to arrive at the check-in desk at the Renaissance. We were greeted by several very friendly attendants who checked us in, made us dinner reservations and called a local clothing store on the square to see what time they were open til that evening - since we didn't have our luggage and needed to buy clothes. The hotel lobby was an oasis and a welcomed place to rest after the hustle and bustle of Times Square. Our room was perfect - updated modern decor, comfortable bed and spotless. Breakfast the next morning at the restaurant on site was very good and wait staff was attentive. We will stay at the Renaissance TS again!

The location can not be beat. After days of exploring NYC it was truly relaxing to come back and rewind. They truly exemplify customer service. The front desk ladies are very polite and welcoming. The gentleman at concierge is very knowledgeable and friendly. The one individual that stands out amongst the many staff at the hotel is, Ms.Dolores with housekeeping. She is very kind and sincere. Overall, we would stay here again.

My family and I spent 5 days in New York and stayed at the Renaissance in Times Square on 7th Avenue. We booked that hotel with a family and friends rate because of cost savings, and was not sure what to expect. The hotel was worked out great for us for location and rooms worked fine. With a family of four a room with 2 queens was tight but we knew that. I just wanted great service and clean environment which is what we experienced. During sleep hours, I was woken up by neighbors slamming their doors as late night folks rolled in but other than that no major complaints. The breakfast buffett was decent but overpriced - I had to ask for a child's buffett price otherwise was going to be charged as adults. Servers were great and very friendly.

Room Tip: Ask for a room as high as possible to avoid street noise.

The location is awesome, especially when traveling with individuals who have never been to the Big Apple.

Subway, theaters, coffee shops, and restaurants all within walking distance. This hotel is located directly in the middle of Time Square.

Only downside was the cost for parking, with no in and out service.

Would stay here again in a heartbeat. Location, location, location!!

The lobby is on a higher floor, not the ground. I used dine at their restaurant which over looked Times Square, very beautiful and impressive. After being away a while I wanted to check up on how things were and they are GREAT. Where the restaurant used to be it is converted to a lounge, again with spectacular view of the Great Times Square, whether by day to rest the weary feet or by night to take in the unique spectacle that IS Times Square and New York. Everyone is friendly. Period. I had the good fortune of meeting and chatting with two of their guest concierges, Omar and Christine. Christine is mature professional woman and I won't give away her age but she is magic and impressive. Omar while a relative youngster is knowledgeable and helpful. What more does a stranger traveling need? There are even computers in the lobby freely and easily used by guests passing through. I haven't seen the rooms but I call the public areas "home" away from home.

Just come back from a four day visit to New York - a treat for my daughter after finishing her A levels. The Renaissance was an oasis of calm amongst the hustle and bustle of Times Square - which was busy, noisy and dirty. A great location - very close to theatre ticket office ( saw Jersey Boys - fantastic) and Big Bus tour bus stop. The room was spacious, very clean and welcoming. There was very little noise from the streets below which were thronged with people 24/7. The beds comfortable and afforded a good nights sleep. Tea and coffee making facilities in room and fridge for water, drinks etc. Only disappointment was breakfast - expensive, not very inspiring choices and incompetent waiters. As a consequence only had breakfast in hotel once and ate out the rest of the time - can highly recommend Rockerfeller Centre.
