The Manhattan at Times Square Hotel

My partner and I stayed at the Manhattan for a week over the New Years period. It was an amazing location to base ourselves in for our first time in New York, with a lot of must see attractions within walking distance (even in the middle of winter!) or a quick subway trip away. Security over NYE was also well managed.

The facilities aren't new, but we found them comfortable, clean and perfect for a little bit of luxury to escape the cold. Have to say too, it was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in!

As with most hotels these days, free WiFi in your room is a much needed inclusion, but it is available in the lobby.

Overall really enjoyed our stay and would definitely return next time we are in NY!

Visited here with my boyfriend on a last minute holiday. Booked with Virgin and this was by far the cheapest deal with the best location.
The hotel is very dated and felt grubby. It's in desperate need of a refurb.
The photos on the website are so misleading, it looks nothing like them!
In a nutshell, if you're not too fussy then this is the place for you. Don't book it for a birthday or anything like that as it is a bit of a disappointment.

After 20hours of flight & transit time with our 2year old, we were so warmly welcomed by Dorothy on reception. She was wonderful with our son, so much so he wanted to visit her every day of our 7night stay. All the staff we encountered were very friendly. Great location, very clean. Great value.

First of all, the staff (Hector, Maxine, Lion, Nadine and Edith) just to name a few were great, first class professionals, from the time of check in to our departure. Though the hotel is near to Time Square and Central Park, it is in need of an upgrade, from the lobby and reception area to the rooms. First impressions were not very inviting. The hallways and elevators were "dingy". The furnishings is our room was worn and room decor is very outdated. We had a coffee maker in our room, but no coffee pot; the smoke alarm was uncovered and had wire hanging from it. There is no restaurant and bar and no swimming pool in this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the 5th floor if you must stay at this hotel. Apparently, it is the only floor in...

We arrived at 12:30am, with only our carry-on luggage after our flight being cancelled due to weather. The woman at the front desk was very friendly, and found us a toothbrush and toothpaste and had it brought up to our room. The room was comfortable, not fancy, and was quiet. Great location, just a few blocks away from Times Square, and convenient to the subway.

Room Tip: Higher floors, facing streetside so you can look down 7th Ave to Times Square.

this is the second time i have visited this hotel. i decided to stay again because the price and location combination can't be beat. it is in between times square and central park. there is easy access to about 5 difference subway lines within a few blocks. in fact, we took the subway from jfk and easily walked to the hotel from the 7th ave stop.

we got there after a red eye from l.a., and the stars must have aligned because our room was available to us at 930 am. for that single thing, i am eternally grateful to this establishment. we were able to sleep a few hours and freshen up before going out to see the city. the lobby has been remodeled, but it feels unfinished in terms of decorations and furnishings. the clientele is very international, which is nice. there is no free wifi, but the prices on expedia for this hotel are unbeatable compared to other hotels in the area. this hotel is extremely safe as there are security guards near the elevators. there are free computers with internet access in the lobby with free printing. a breakfast bar is available in the mornings.

the rooms are very large for nyc standards. they are sized more like regular hotel rooms you might find anywhere rather than the tiny closets normally found in manhattan. this is a solid three star place. the bed was comfortable, and it is pretty clean, the bathroom did have a few irregularities if you really search...for instance, the wallpaper was peeling a little, the fixtures were old, there was a smidgen of mold in the shower, etc.

also, the doors close in a very noisy way so it sounds like someone is coming into your room when your neighbors open/close their door. the hallways are a little tired with worn carpeting and wallpaper. there is ice and vending machines with drinks on every floor.

there are a few remodeled rooms and hallways, and i think the prices will likely go way up when all of it is completed. so for now, take advantage of the spectacular location and prices. this place can easily charge more, and it likely will soon.

Room Tip: ask for a remodeled room

We stayed two nights at The Manhattan. The check-in/out went smoothly. Our room wasn't ready early, but they accommodated us by giving us a different room, which worked out fine. Of course I don't know what the original room looked like. We had two doubles, desk area, and a small one sink bathroom. I believe we had reserved a larger room, but did not see it so can't tell you about that. The room was ok, the beds comfortable. The towels felt one-sided and using two was out as there were three of us and only four towels. It was quiet and road noise was not noticed from the 15th front room. I would stay here again while in NYC as it was not too pricey and reasonably clean. It was convenient to Times Square and within walking distance to Central Park.

Room Tip: Ask for a room above 14 as I believe road noise would be minimal.
