The reason I booked this hotel was because of the price range and the location in NYC. Overall our stay was good in the hotel. The elevators were slow and the presentation of the rooms were not that great. I liked that we were able to check in early than the regular time. Except for the numerous calls we had to place to the lobby for our washcloths and towels. The best part of the lodging experience was Alex from the Front Desk was very helpful and polite. He made sure that we had everything we needed before we went upstairs. Because of Alex from the front desk, I would come back and stay.

This place is awful. The rooms are dirty, dated and smelly. You could feel springs through the bed. It was super loud as well all through the night, the walls were so thin you could hear the elevator go up and down and we were not that close to it. At one point some drunk patrons tried entering our room and it sounded like they then threw up in the hallway. We didn't get a bit of sleep all night. We were supposed to stay several nights but ended up checking out after the first night and finding someplace to stay that was not a dive.

Room Tip: don't stay here.

To be a 4 star hotel, the standard did not come close to our expectations. The hotel is in great need of a renewal/renovation. Lobby and reception looks good, but the corridor and room we'd got was a disappointment. A gap (about 3 cm) between the room door and the floor let all sounds from the corridor in and kept us up at night. The location, however, is excellent (near Times Square and Central Park).

I had to email twice to advise arrival date changed from pm to early am, not good with communication. Really dirty rooms, smelt mouldy musty, was dusty, in need of overhaul, or at least a good vac and clean with bleach!! Bed linen described as 'plush bedding' was thread bare dirty coverlet with blood stains on it, and a sheet! The bathroom ceiling had been patched that morning, it was still wet plaster! My request for a room on a high level was the reason we got this disgusting room, or so said the manger on duty, even after letting him know we had two asthmatics sharing this room! he said he could not help us. I have never heard of a request meaning you got a dirty old room! I had to call Booking .com to intervene to get us a refund and advise of other hotels close by. We lost a day in NY after arguing with management and having to find another hotel and relocate. No they did not help with our luggage or anything else, the manager just shrugged his shoulders. He expected us to walk away without a refund!
Three other parties were checking out at the same time, same reasons. I understand NY is an old city, old buildings, this room was not fit for human habitation. After negative feedback through hotel website they did reply and apologized, adjusted the refund.

Room Tip: don't go choose another hotel, do your research, I asked for a room on a higher level, which acc...

When I arrived there was an ironing board and iron set up in the room along with a bag of garbage. I tried calling housekeeping and the front desk for 30 minutes and no one answered the phone. Finally, I went to the front desk and told the clerk the problem and he said they'd take care of it right away. No one ever came. The next morning I asked for a manager and told her the same story. She said she would take care of it. I returned after breakfast and nothing had changed. In addition, the ice machine on the floor didn't work nor did the safe in my room. When I check out I told yet another manager who assured me things would be taken care of and said that he would arrange for me to get a partial refund for my bill.

We stayed here in June 2014. The staff was amazing- gracious, helpful and very friendly. HOWEVER, this hotel is a DUMP!!!! For $375 I would expect an A/C that works, a room that doesn't smell, a shower that works and a shower curtain that doesn't have mildew. I even moved rooms because the first room I went into smelled so bad. I was afraid to get into the bed. Unfortunately, I did not have a choice as other brand hotels were sold out. The elevators often didn't work and there was a line to go up to our rooms. The walls were so thin you could hear the next door room and slamming doors all night!!!! I am a well traveled individual, who always looks at the positives, BUT this hotel should be condemned!!!! I want to reiterate- the STAFF WAS GREAT AND WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND!!!! The hotel is terrible!!!!!

Room Tip: Don't stay here. The location is not worth the convenience.

My son had been deployed on his first anniversary, so this trip to NYC needed to be very special. Lion (Leon) Godchaux, the Guest Experience Manager, went above and beyond our expectations in customer service for my son and his wife's anniversary. Lion went out of his way to make sure that every detail of their stay was perfect. Including, on his day off, he returned to the hotel to make sure their room had chilled champagne and flowers. Not only is this a great hotel (quaint and cozy), it offers customer service like no other hotel in NYC! If you desire excellence and prefer friendly staff, STAY HERE! Say hello to Lion :)
