“Great location and staff - rooms though ....”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 June 2014

Bedrooms - we were on 3rd floor initially in a tiny room - asked to be moved to a larger one, which happened quickly and didn't have to pay that much more. My mum was on her own on the 16th floor and I wasn't terribly happy with her room but the hotel was full and there was no where to move her to. It was ok but there was no real window so felt a bit like a prison cell!

We stayed at the Affinia 50 5 years ago and this was a step up from that - although I know that one has also been refurbed since then. The location is just fabulous - easy to walk to so many places. Had one day where the rain was so heavy that we didn't even want to leave the hotel and so we ate in Niles - and it was possibly the best meal we had during our whole stay!

Doesn't get 5 stars as the rooms are nice but amazing, and they wanted $170 for a late check out, which I thought was astronomical!

Room Tip: Ask for a high up room to help reduce the noise!

Thank you for the kind review, we are happy you chose to stay with us and in the middle of all NYC has to offer. Niles is wonderful, great food. Apologies for the late check-out fee, we have had to institute this as we need to have the rooms ready for our guests that are arriving, and depending on the time needed is the rate that is quoted. We do hope you will stay with us again in the future and we will be able to earn 5 bubbles from you.

Cheers,

Alex

Second time to New York. It was my husband's 60th Birthday, we picked The Affinia Manhattan this time for location, as we stayed in 'Times Square' last time.
We we're upgraded on arrival which was a lovely start to the holiday. The room was spacious and clean, the bed was very comfortable and had good nights' sleep. The staff we're very friendly and helpful nothing was to much trouble. We would definitely recommend this Hotel.

Hi Linda,

We are honored to have hosted your stay to celebrate your husband’s birthday. We are very close to Time’s Square but not right in the middle allowing you to experience our neighborhood. Thank you for the recommendation and hopefully next time we host your birthday!

Cheers,

Alex

Well were do I begin lets start with the check-in it was straight forward staff were very helpful. Was given a room on the 3rd floor it was clean and did the job A/Con was good. The hotel is centrally located, Maddison square gardens opposite, time square just a stroll up the road everything within reason close by. If you are travelling on the subway penn street station is just across the road. The hotel provides ear-plugs as like they say the city that never sleeps so possibly a bit of noise I personally liked the sound of the fire engines and after visiting 9/11 museum I think you get a bit of a feel for the fire station next door and ladder 24.A bit of history next door to the hotel. Niles the bar/restaurant I loved it bar staff was good and we eat in Niles as well and food was great and so were the staff. If you want to be central and have the ability to appreciate area within the city that is vibrant I would say just book it. As and when I visit again from London I shall be booking here.

Thank you for the great review, we are a city that never sleeps and we are in the center of all of the action. What a wonderful thought of your visit to the 9/11 Memorial and I am sure the fire station next door would be happy you feel as you do. We do hope to host you again when you are in from London, we would be thrilled to be your home away from home.

Cheers,

Alex

We've been staying here for years when in for business. The staff could not be nicer or more accommodating; they've always gone the extra step to make sure we're happy. A lot of folks from companies we've worked with are using the newer, "trendier" hotels and we think they're nuts....tiny rooms, silly rates, no service....quite the opposite of Affinia. We love the spacious rooms that those other hotels just don't have.....and we just can't say enough about how great the staff is....

Room Tip: We've been lucky with the higher floors.

This is a blooming joke of a hotel. You name what could happen. The pictures look like this is a 4 star place. It took 2 days to clean room. They have wall units in windows that barely cool off room. TV does not work, 2 towels total, oh by the way police and fire trucks are wide open sirens every 10 minutes. No need for alarm clock because you don't sleep. If you are into comedy you need to stay here and really they should pay you!!!!!!?

Dear Carter,

I wanted to take a minute to reach out to you about your recent stay at Affinia Manhattan. First, I am happy to hear that you liked our online images our team recently completed a renovation and are extremely proud of the overall look of the hotel. New York city weather has been all over the place this past month which has made it more difficult to manage temperature.

We wish that you had come to us while at the hotel to tell us about the issues so we could have tried to accommodate you better. Our team is truly committed to providing a wonderful experience and feel terrible that you felt that your experience was a joke.

We do hope that next time you come back from Beverly Hills you consider us again – NYC does have a life and energy of its own and hopefully if you come back we can give you some tips to have a great experience in the city that never sleeps!

I hope to hear from you,
Alex Spektor

The Affinia Manhattan is one of my go-to's when I am working in New York. Located near Macy's and Madison Square Garden, it is also convenient to the Javits Center and the subway. Generally the rates are well priced and the accommodations are not plush but nice with a modern decor.

Room Tip: the suites are very spacious with two queen beds

We stayed at Affinia Manhattan in November 2013 (thanksgiving). Overall this hotel was excellent. Our room was massive in size, very clean and modern. We had a kitchenette plus an awesome little coffee machine which made beautiful coffee :) The bed and pillows were so comfortable and we were lucky enough to stay on the top floor (we did pay top dollar for our room though). The views were magnificent. The location was perfect! only 10 minutes stroll to Times Square. The staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful, and we loved the free wine every afternoon :) The gym was great too.

Cannot fault Affinia. We plan on coming back to NYC in the summer time and we certainly will be staying here again. Thank-you for making our holiday to your wonderful city so memorable.

See you again soon!!

Room Tip: If you have a baby go for a bigger room as they have plenty of room to crawl around everywhere.

Thank you for the incredible review, I am sure you had a blast in NYC over the Thanksgiving holiday, there is truly nothing like the holidays in New York City. Your photos are incredible, especially the top of the Empire State Building, taken from one of our terraces, no doubt!

We look forward to hosting you again, summer in the city can be just as great; so much to do and we are right in the middle of it all.

Cheers!
