“Way better than last visit”
Reviewed 25 July 2014 via mobile

Great location.
Staff on check not the friendliest. No smiles, no welcome to speak of.
Rooms easy to find once you've waited for the incredibly slow lifts.

An interesting lobby area with odd sofas and old doors etc querky in a good way.

Staff employed here are excellent door slammers tho. And me sleeping at odd times of day due to my work routine wasn't made easy for all the extra noise.

Bring earplugs!

The hotel lobby was freezing. So glad I don't pay their air con bill. My room was positively arctic. A penguin would have been very comfortable. I however am not a penguin.

Dear Helly J,

thank you for your review and feedback.
Looks like you found our lobby decor and seating interesting-what might be worth noting is that the central seating and chandelier are actually represetative of the Manhattan topography and feature one of a kind design. Additionally, to aid in tuning out the most energetic location out when sleep calls, we provide complimentary earplugs in each guestroom and suite located in the nightstand drawer next to the bed. Hopefully this info is helpful the next time we have the pleasure of hosting you.

Sincerely,
Alex Spektor

This hotel is one of my go-to's while visiting NYC. It's right by Penn Station and within walking distance to so many popular attractions including Times Square, Broadway, and the Empire State Building. I always ask for one of the rooms with free wi-fi....they will happily accommodate. The staff are all pleasant....and the rooms are unbelievable ! This is one of the best places to stay in New York !

We stayed here on our honeymoon early July 7 - 12th and really couldn't complain about anything. The room we were given was fairly small I suppose but was lovely and clean and the decor was modern and bright. The staff were all friendly and helpful and as everyone reading these reviews will know by now the location is fantastic! It's right in the heart of NYC and all the big attractions are just a few blocks away, Be it times square or the empire state building you don't have far to walk. The legendary Madison Square Garden is directly across from the hotel so anyone who wants to catch a gig can just stroll right across the road. We loved our stay here and when we eventually return to the big apple we will certainly be sure to book the Affinia Manhattan.

I was first introduced to this hotel during a stay for a dental seminar and it has been our family default hotel since. It is across from Penn station and conveniently located to local attractions. Walking distance to time square, Empire State Building, MSG, Macy and the list goes on. The hotel staff are very attentive and the room is nicely appointed. We always get the 1 bedroom suite and it is very spacious for a NYC standard. There is a sofa bed in the living room and very adequate for a family of 4. Also the 1 bedroom suite comes with 2 bathrooms which is extremely convenient. The last stay we got free wifi for multiple devices so ask or chooses the room package with wifi included.

The hotel is fine unless you need sleep. It must be the door slam capital of the world. I stay in a huge range of different hotels all over the world on average two nights a week. Even a call to the duty manager to request staff don't slam the doors didn't help.

We stayed here on our first trip to New York City.

Initially we selected the hotel based on the location being central (based on a map) but when we arrived, we couldn't have asked for anymore. Having flown to JFK, we opted for the Air Train to Jamaica then Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) from Jamaica to Penn Station. Penn Station is opposite this hotel.

The hotel was perfect, the location is perfect for Madison Square Garden (directly opposite), Empire State Building, Macey's and Times Square are all within a 10 minute walk.

The rooms are very clean, although we didn't use the dining/bar facilities, they seemed very popular which is always a good sign. A free safe is also in each room.

We are planning on returning to New York early 2015 to watch a Knicks game & hopefully this hotel will be available so we can return.

Room Tip: Higher rooms will be better due to the traffic noise outside, although this wasn't as bad as I e...

Dear WNYKicks1826,

Thank you so much for choosing Affinia Manhattan for such a special trip to NYC. The first trips tend to set a tone for all the others to follow and I'm thrilled that you had such a great time with us! I cannot wait to welcome you in 2015 - and for all the Knicks games our location, as you have seen, could not be more perfect.

This hotel was perfect for our 4 day stay in NY. It is convenient to Madison Square Garden, Chelsea market, Empire State Building and just about any place you can walk.
It was clean and very quiet. The restaurant food was delicious and servers very attentive.
Plan to definitely stay at this hotel again!
I do add that we upgraded to a larger room and the extra $ was well worth it.

Room Tip: We were on the 14th floor and it was very quiet
