“Nice Hotel in an Amazing Location”
Reviewed 20 March 2014

Situated near the Empire State Building, I would definitely recommend this hotel!

I stayed here recently with my girlfriend for five days. It's a nice hotel, the outside is covered in scaffolding so I was a bit anxious at first, but we would be pleasantly surprised. The bellman was out like a light to help us in with our bags and our check-in was quite swift. The staff are very friendly and quick to offer advice, info a map of the area. Before our trip we asked for a Empire State Building view and were told by reception that they would try their best, we got a really nice view of the Empire State Building, so were definitely please with that!

We were on the 10th floor. The rooms are average, the wallpaper could probably be upgraded and there was a noticeable crack in the corner of our floor length mirror that had been taped over, but apart from that I do not have a complaint about the room. The bed was comfortable and the air conditioning did it's job. The TV in the room had a great selection of channels and there is a safe provided in the room. There was construction going on in the hotel at that time and the hotel apologised for any noise disturbances, but we never heard any noise and our room and the environment was very quiet.

There is only one lift/elevator in this hotel for over 10 floors and sometimes we had to wait a bit to use it, but that would definitely not put me off using the hotel again. The hotel is located in Korea Town (one street) and there are some amazing hotels and bars nearby. There is a subway station right outside and Macy's and JCP Pennys are a 5-10 minute walk away.

Room Tip: Ask for an Empire State Building room

The main thing you're paying for is location - you're right by Broadway and round the corner from the Empire State Building. If you're just looking for a place to sleep at night, it's absolutely fine. My room was a bit dated, but with a brand new bathroom and the bed was comfy. A nice powerful hot shower and for the first time ever, a hotel hairdryer that actually has enough power to dry hair!
There are no instructions provided for e.g. the heating (my room was boiling for the first night), but if you ring down to reception, they can explain things over the phone.
There are no in-room tea or coffee making facilities (but you get a jug of water and glasses in the fridge).
The cafe is a bit spartan to look at, but the breakfast is OK - bagels, pastries, muffins, orange juice, milk, tea and coffee. I had it every morning as it was included, but there are plenty of coffee shops around if you want something a bit more substantial.
Even though there was a notice up saying there might be a bit of noise from renovations, I didn't hear anything (although I was out most of the day every single day).

I've been to New York a number of times and decided to give Hotel Stanford a try, I was not disappointed. Excellent location, situated just around the corner from Macy's and Madison Square Garden, with a subway just outside. I was most impressed. My room was a good size and had everything I needed. The breakfast was quite basic offering a selection of pastries but if you do fancy the full works there's a diner called Tick Tok next door to the New Yorker Hotel (opposite MSG) which I visit whenever in NY, the pancakes are heavenly! All in all good value for money, I would recommend!

This hotel was well located in NYC and just a 3 minute walk to Macys. The staff were lovely and very helpful. Breakfast was included in the price but you would not be missing out to skip this as it really wasn't great. There were only bagels croissants or cupcakes available to eat, I would have liked a selection of fruit and or cereal. The room where breakfast was served was not the most attractive and you certainly would not be inclined to delay and chat over coffee! Saying that though the hotel itself was good value and the staff were great. There is a small bar area, not sure about the prices but I did have a coke which cost $5, I thought that expensive.

Room Tip: We stayed in an executive suite which did not cost much more than a normal room but gave us a lot of...

Hotel Standford is in a great location. The rooms are a nice size for a New York hotel. However our view was of a brick wall which made the room dark. The couch in room was very old and the wood was poking through the cushioning and we could only get about two stations on the tv. The room was clean however I did walk in on the cleaner using our bathroom while she was cleaning out room which was a bit disturbing.
The breakfast is terrible and not worth going too. Only bagels and muffins on offer.
However the service was great as was the location. We felt safe and could walk everywhere. Would stay here again.

The Hotel Stanford is perfect for experiencing the Manhattan experience. It's located near by the Empire State, and very short walking distance from Times Square, Madison Square Garden (Penn Station), Flatiron District, etc. The location also has a subway station just 20 seconds away.
The hotel is nice, the bedrooms are overall OK, nothing fancy but ideal for NY.
The breakfast is OK, and it helps you to keep going all morning and day (in our case, we took big breakfast and stopped for food again about 5 pm.

Room Tip: It only has 1 elevator, so you want to take a low room (walk down stairs) or an upper room (11th or...
