We stayed at this hotel on 23rd Dec for 1 night as we were due to pick up our Cruise Ship the next day in Bayone Port.

What a wonderful stylish hotel. The staff were very attentive, nothing was too much trouble. The room was beautiful and elegant with very high quality furniture. The location was perfect for Central Park with some lovely places to eat and people watch just a few blocks down. We didn't have anything to eat or drink at the hotel, because we were on a budget, but it all looked fabulous.

Would have loved to have been able to have a suite, but we a a double room which was fabulous.

The bed and bedding were just wonderful.

We booked this hotel through our cruise travel agent so not sure how much we paid as it was included in the very expensive package we booked.

Would highly recommend this wonderful hotel.

Happy travelling :-)

Have just had 5 nights at The Surrey and really enjoyed it. The position in particular was great, as it was tucked away, but still close enough to get to everything. A great "neighborhood" feel, surrounded by beautiful upper east-siders rather than tourists. The hotel itself eminates low key glamour, the staff are welcoming and the rooms are lovely. We arrived on new years eve and popped into the bar for a pre- dinner drink - I was thrilled to be able to treat myself to a glass of Ruinart champagne which I've been wanting to try! Special yummy chocolates by the bed for nye and little madeleines every other night. I really can't fault the hotel at all. The only area that needs some work is the breakfast room, which is slow and disorganized - the trays of food on buffet are too small for the number of people generally in the room and were not regularly replenished, so there would be cream cheese and salmon but no bread, or cereal and no bowls/milk. Apart from that, a great little hotel.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your high praise and generous feedback from your recent stay with us. We were truly delighted that we succeeded in creating a memorable experience and that you have become a fan of The Surrey.

Lauren Rottet, our interior designer was inspired by The Surrey’s authentic bone structure and the tapestry of the neighborhood; she designed the hotel like a family townhouse passed down from generation to generation. We were pleased to learn that she succeeded in her quest and you left very much at home with us.

It is our personalized level of intuitive service that we pride ourselves on and I am proud to learn that our team members were successful in making you feel warm and welcome. Rest assured I have shared your comments with Mr Dominique Paulin, General Manager and Mr Gavin Kaysen, Executive Chef of Café Boulud, and we have ceased our breakfast buffet offering to avoid future such guest dissatisfaction.

We sincerely appreciate your high praise and recognition and look forward to welcoming you back soon. In the interim, we remain at your service.

Sincerely,

Shan Kanagasingham

Greatly exceeded expectations for a NYC hotel at this price over New Year. Wonderful location, right by Central Park and handy for the museums and high-end shops on Madison. But what really makes this hotel is the quality of staff - they know your name, make fabulous recommendations, have plenty of time for you, and are never flustered. The rooms are spacious and luxurious, and the bed and linen are supremely comfortable. The spa treatments looked great but we did not use them - and they don't have a pool or sauna, but the gym is well-equipped and anyway, shouldn't you really be out running with the locals in the park? The restaurant and bar are also top quality. Highly recommended.

In my modest view, space is a luxury, particularly in NYC. The Surrey hotel has it. Quiet corridors, gentle housekeepers, relaxed lobby all helped greet me to the soft elegance of the ample room. Nice urban view (after all, this is Manhattan!), spacious bathroom, great toiletries, outstanding service.

Had a corner room (1014), with windows on 2 sides (one facing Madison Ave and the other 75th St), and another window in the bathroom. The shower was the best I have experienced in a very long while. Strong flow of water, marble, spacious. I am currently having my bathtub at home replaced by a new shower due to this experience!

The turndown service was a delight. Chocolates, cookies, bottled water, always something to look forward to. The slippers were just great.

Downstairs Cafe Boulud is not only convenient, but also a great place for a bite. Prices are reasonable for the quality of food and service.

Would love to go back!

Room Tip: Corner rooms may have windows on 2 sides, which makes them luminous and more interesting. Additiona...

understated, elegant hotel in a great location surrounded by historical townhouses, upscale shopping, and Central Park. the beds/linens are super comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful. Cafe Boulud delicious and Pleiades Bar fun! brought in the new year in the park drinking champagne and watching spectacular fireworks. I think we've stumbled on a new tradition...

My two children, two dogs and I stayed here for an extended New Years weekend and we were over the top pleased. The service impeccable, rooms spacious and inviting... even calming as the decor has an understated elegance with its neutral tones. The bedding, sheets and pillows were of high quality and changed daily. The bathroom was beautiful with mosaic marble tiles and marble double sink combined with excellent lighting and a shower that produces the most powerful waterfall I have ever experienced.
The hotel sits close to several museums...The Frick should not be missed. Great shopping on Madison Ave and Fifth Ave all within walking distance. Central Park is half a block away and each day I ran a different loop.
There was complimentary coffee available each morning and apples and water throughout the day which was nice given the amount of walking we did.
