My wife and i booked in for 5 nights. The first night we ate dinner at the Brazilian meat restaurant attached to the hotel.I got food poisoning and was sick as a dog for 3 days. Also on our floor there were 4 eviction notices pinned to the doors so you get an idea of the type of tenants they choose. The staff were rude. Then on the last day they had an electrical fire,,the power went off and alarms were ringing just as we were packed and ready to vacate our room. So in the panic of running down the staircase both of us struggling with 2 heavy bags 2 hotel employees were running down the stairs pushed past my wife nearly knocking her down the stairs not offering to help but to save themselves. How Disgusting. In the process of evacuating we lost a camera and a pair of expensive glasses. We had been trying to get the hotel to send us a letter for our insurance claim but the just plain refuse to speak to us or return our emails. Please think twice about staying at the Belvedere New York. Frustrated Aussie.

Room Tip: stay clear.

Dear Julie S,
I'm sorry to hear you were sick for 3 days following a recent visit to the Brazilian Steakhouse while staying at the Belvedere Hotel. Most people think of the last place they ate when they get flu like symptoms, but foodborne illness must be diagnosed by a doctor after testing, and symptoms can take from hours to several days to occur. Because of this, it is often difficult or impossible to determine the source. What I can confirm is that we did not have any other reports of foodborne illness. The Churascaria Plataforma is known for it's safe food handling practices due to being the recipient of the New York City Health Department "Golden Apple Award" for food safety and cleanliness for three consecutive years.
The Belvedere Hotel does have some permanent residents living in the hotel, but it is not our practice to post notices on any door. Furthermore, we have not evicted any resident recently.
As you know, we had to evacuate the hotel in early May due to an electrical fire in the street in front of the hotel. Our staff and fire department was assisting with the evacuation, and I apologize if you were nearly knocked down in the urgency of getting everyone out of the building while the emergency was being investigated. The safety and security of our guests and staff is our primary concern.
When you reported your missing items, we checked the room that you stayed in and did not find anything. We also checked Lost & Found and nothing was turned in. I would be happy to send a letter regarding the reported lost items and the result of our investigation. Please call me or send your request to my attention at the hotel.
Thank you for your feedback. I'm truly sorry you had anything less than an exceptional experience at the Belvedere Hotel.

It was our second stay at The Belvedere. The first one was in 2006. This year when we arrived, the room they gave us was too small, old and problems with the settings of the heating . But when we requested to move to another room, it was great. Very spacious, modern, remodeled, clean, and no problems with the heating system. Perfect location to all NYC attractions. Good service and no problems with the elevator.

We travel to NYC to catch up on Broadway shows. Of all the 4-star and 5-star hotels we've stayed, The Belvedere Hotel will be the one to which we will return. It's location put us right in the midst of all that the area has to offer. The comfortable well-appointed rooms, the attentive staff put it a notch way above the rest. It seems almost a "quiet" side street away from much of the action, yet it's only a few steps away from what became a favorite new restaurant: The Patzeria (breakfast, lunch, dinner) right next to a friendly "local" bar, the Mont Blanc. There's a beautiful outdoor flower shop on the corner. Only a couple of blocks from the lovely St. Malachy's, the Actor's Chapel. The hotel placed a bottle of wine with two wine glasses in our room on our anniversary. We were made to feel very, very special. But I have a feeling all guests may feel that way....

Room Tip: The kitchenettes helped us take advantage of the wonderful delis in the area.

I stayed here over February school vacation with my teenage daughter and some friends. The room was very large for NYC. It fit 4 women with all their gear very comfortably. The hotel was very clean and the staff was courteous. Great location close to Times Square. The room did not have too much outside noise, despite its busy location. Great value. I would definitely stay here again.

The Belvedere is situated on 48th street between 8th and 9th Avenue and is close to a lot of touristic places like Times Square, Central Park. The rooms are clean and big enough. We even shared a room with our daughter and son-in-law (2 doubles).
Staff is very friendly. Ask for a room at the front of the hotel since at the back is a lot of noise from the large aircofans aso. But hey, it's never quiet in NY ;-)

Room Tip: Quieter rooms at the front of the hotel.

We found this hotel clean, up to date and charming. The location is superb, and the employees were courteous and knowledgeable. Our room was well turned out, and nicely outfitted with coffee maker, microwave and fridge. As others have said, the hotel is located on a quiet street, right in the middle of everything. We very much enjoyed our stay at the Belvedere and recommend.

The hotel itself is beautiful, clean, and we would definitly stay again! My only complaint is, the tub was so clogged up, while showering, the water had risen up to my ankles. I got a bit of a rash from the water, feet were so itchy! I told the front desk and she said she would send someone right away, however an hour later, no one came. We left the hotel to go have dinner, cause we were tired of waiting. The next day at checkout I left without showering and we had a 15 hour drive to take! So I wasnt happy about not showering and felt gross the whole ride home.

The bellmans, just stood there and hardly opened the door for us, and we had out hands full with bags and a stroller. I don't know why they were just standing there watching us open doors, isn't that their job? Either way, we are happy with our stay, and glad we didn't book elsewhere.
