Loved how quaint and luxorious this hotel was. Free esspresso machine access, and wine happy hour each evening was a great amenity. Most comfortable bed I have ever slept in at a hotel. Great customer service.

This place has gone down hill. I'm wondering if management has changed. Namely, the quality of the continental breakfast went from excellent to poor. A few years ago they offered a gourmet cheese tray, fresh plain yogurt, homemade granola; think European and healthy. This time I was shocked and disappointed to find a chain-hotel-grade pastry tray, processed cereals and cheeses, yogurt with aspartame, and nutri grain bars (is this 1996?). Calming jazz music has been replaced with awful contemporary pop. I never minded the small rooms, but the furnishings especially in the common room are now tattered. It's no longer special, there's no style left. There are better boutique hotels out there.

We knew the rooms at the Franklin were small so we opted for the exec king, but the bed took up 2/3 of the room so it was STILL cramped. It wasn't even possible to open the closest door all the way because the nightstand was in the way. There's not a drawer to be found. You have to live out of your suitcase. The bathroom is so inconvenient that I had to put my makeup kit on the back of the toilet when getting dressed in the morning because there was nowhere else for it! The entrance to the hotel is depressing: no lobby, just two dingy little rooms in the back for breakfast and wine. They say both are complimentary but there is a service charge. For what I ask? We learned our lesson. In NYC there are no bargains.

Room Tip: If you must go, get a room off 87th street. There is garbage pickup all night long.

The Franklin Hotel was the perfect place to spend our 1 yr Anniversary. It's romantic and charming with it's Art Deco feel. The staff were awesome, friendly and helpful when needed. We loved the 5pm wine and cheese and the coffee/breakfast every morning. Everything is assessable in the neighborhood...We will definitely stay here next time...hopefully, soon :)

Room Tip: This is a small hotel located on a side street...very quiet. I'm sure any room would be awesome...

Although it is uptown, the hotel is near from metro station, so it's easy to go everywhere. Good restaurants nearby if you don't want go far. Staff was very nice and neighborhood was quiet. Just a walk from the Metropolitan.

Room Tip: When you arrive at the airport, be sure the shuttle goes to uptown because the hotel is at 87th.

We stayed here in december, Vintage style boutique hotel, wine and cheese in the evening is offered, and a complimentary light breakfast. Around the corner from the subway and shops and restaurants. The rooms are really small, but very clean and beautiful, that being said we were very kindly moved to a bigger room the next day when we asked the front desk. This hotel is one of the best I have ever stayed at, beautiful ambience and decor. Everything about it was perfect for the New York city winter charm.

Room Tip: Ask to be moved to a bigger room if needed.

Upper East Side hotels are dwindling and The Franklin is probably the best value of any of those that remain. The rooms are small but comfortable and clean. The staff is very helpful. Continental breakfast is included, coffee is always available (good coffee) and nice snacks are offered in the afternoon.

Room Tip: If you want quiet you can get the back of the hotel but you will have no view and little natural lig...
