“Once in a lifetime view of Central Park”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 August 2014 via mobile

I stay here for work everything I am in NY and used to stay in a city view room. I am in real estate and love architecture so a NYC view centered around the GM building was always nice. My last few stays I took a Central Park view room on the 21st floor WOW. It doesn't even seem real. I could only imagine living in a condo with that view. I woke up early everyday and had breakfast in the room just watching the sun rise.

Although the rooms are a it dated they are still well put together. The management recently changed and they have really stepped up the service levels

Can't wait to go back and see that view!!

This hotel is very good value for it's location. Due to our itinerary, we had reason to stay twice on our trip. The first time the room was great - spacious, and with good views. The second time we were put into a smaller room, and it was a little tired - a few minor things needed fixing. Check-in needed sorting out - they were understaffed and had a large queue of people checking out and in. The female concierge (not sure of name, sorry!) was lovely to deal with and very knowledgeable Considering Park Lane's very good location, I think it was definitely value for money, and we would definitely stay here again.

Our room was great! I had booked a room with a Central Park view and were were upgraded to a junior suite with the view of Central Park. Room was very clean, quiet, and, again, the view!. The location is perfect; close to Central Park, of course, and Times Square, Rockefeller Center, 5th Avenue, Lincoln Center. We got free WiFi by using their Facebook offer. Safe, nice area. I highly recommend this hotel.

Excellent location!!!
Fantastic service, great amenities and it was a good value for NYC!!
Room was much bigger then I expected and our view was OK but for a 'city view'.
The staff was very friendly and helpful...looking forward to another visit to the big apple!!

I stayed here on a business trip. I had a "city view," which means you are overlooking the laundry from the buildings behind you. The view of Central Park at breakfast was fabulous, and being directly across the street was great.

When I got to my room, my phone did not work. I reported it that night at 8pm; they came at 11pm to fix it. Since I was asleep, I asked them to come back the next day. In the morning, the toilet stopped flushing (I could take off the back and pull the plunger myself though) and the shower did not work correctly. I reported both of those, and the phone again... before I left. That night, the toilet was fixed. Phone and shower were broken. I reported the phone again that night (Tuesday). It never got fixed. I gave up after that and left the hotel Friday morning, never having a working phone.

Room Tip: Pay for Park View if you can afford it. Otherwise, plan to keep your shades drawn the entire visit.

Dear Janet H,
On behalf of Hotel Management, we are sorry to hear of your unpleasant stay earlier this month. The delayed response and follow up to your service calls are an alarming issue. Repairs and maintenance to service calls in occupied rooms are to be addressed immediately by our Housekeeping and Engineering teams to ensure a smooth operation while guests are in-house. If the room requires extensive service, a room move is to be arranged for the guest. We apologize for the inability to deliver in this area of service and hope you will consider revisiting the Park Lane Hotel New York. We would greatly appreciate the opportunity to deliver five star quality service and mend your impression of the hotel based on the previous visit. Please feel free to contact me directly for future NYC hotel accommodations. We will be sure to extend the best available rates.

Travelers who strive to develop lasting friendships with the staff of hotels they frequent would do well to steer clear of this venue, which is run by something of an aloof and skeleton crew. Doormen coolly observe comings and goings but do not facilitate them by actions such as opening the door. The hotel itself is a well-preserved relic of then1980s so i did not feel hip just for staying here. It's all about value, however, and a last-minute $180 rate was quite a reasonable tariff for a spacious and clean room on Central Park South. Recommended for the self-contained traveler!

The service of park lane was great and the views were amazing, but I want to specifically mention the front office director, Avi Yesawich, who went out of his way to provide us with exceptional service from day one when we arrived. Avi arranged an awesome welcome amenity for our celebration and provided us with a beautiful room overlooking the park. Thank you so much for helping us experience the city in style!!!
