“Great Getaway”
Reviewed 16 June 2014

We checked into the Pierre on Friday afternoon for one night. We were visiting our son in NYC and wanted a comfortable hotel and great location to unwind a bit for the weekend. We had a small suite that furnished perfectly, with a large bathroom including a walk in shower, separate soaking tub, and all of the amenities one expects at a LHW hotel. The bed was fantastic as well.

We enjoyed afternoon Tea in the lounge, room service breakfast, and happy hour at the bar. It was all fantastic. As for location, you cannot beat it. Finally, it is the last place in NYC (or the US as far as I know) where the elevators are manned full time with an attendant. All fun.

Thanks Pierre for making it a special stay.

I was schedule to check in at 3pm and instead due to flight delays got in at 2am. Everyone knew i was coming in at that time and treated me very well ! The check in was ultra smooth and quick ! The staff were not from NYC ! They looked like new yorkers, spoke with the same accent but their words and manners were from Asia. They bent backwards so make sure they were hospitable, kind and amazing. The concierge desk was the best in the world. Thanks to Brian front desk, Erin, and her team at the concierge. Amazing hotel, great staff, and you get that warm feeling they enjoy their job. Makes the stay even more memorable.

Our family of five stayed at the Pierre for 4 nights in celebration of our youngest daughter's high school graduation. We were in adjacent rooms that shared a common entry way. This gave our family complete privacy and the rooms were beautiful. Fruit plates were waiting for us in the room in the evenings. The rooms were large and met all our needs. Erin at the concierge desk was able to arrange wonderful seats at three plays and had many excellent site seeing ideas in New York. The restaurant and Lounge had great service and food. The location is ideal, just across from Central Park on fifth avenue and at 61st street just above the noise and commotion of central park south. From the complimentary chocolate coins in the lobby to the friendly staff the Pierre has it all, perfect for families, romantic getaways and for business. Like Arnold Ill be back.

I stayed here on business - the room service and hotel were super. The location is also excellent. The food was absolutely beautiful and you cannot fault the service or ambience. The room however was a little tired and the view poor.

Dear GarethandVictoria,

Thank you the excellent review! We are delighted that you enjoyed your time with us during business, even though you had to work during your time here with us!

We are happy to hear that you enjoyed our location, food, service, and ambience. We will follow up with the respective parties to see how we can address the aesthetic concerns that you raised.

We hope that you return to our hotel in the near future, and that you will be able to have the opportunity to have a better view! The views of the city and Central Park are breathtaking.

There is no lobby to speak of, and the rooms are nice but nothing better than any other nice hotel. However, the staff makes the difference. Aside from a few indifferent bellmen, the staff was fantastic. When they found my hedgehog, they made a palace for her.

The shower has both a wand and that overhead rain thing (not my favorite, but good water pressure!)

Pros: Great service; friendly housekeeping; nice bar; the bathroom is not small
Cons: Overpriced; the throw on the bed was not clean; the courtesy car was only available once; we found a bug in our room (but they comped the snacks we had in the bar the night before in exchange)

As I came the first time to New York, nearly 30 years ago, I stayed at The Pierre and it was the utmost luxury and elegance. Now I wanted to visit the hotel again and it was like meeting an old lover, I didn't know why I got a crush on him ? Ok the location is unique, the concierge is first class but...in the meantime The Pierre belongs to the Taj Group of the Indian Tata Corp., the first 10 floors are sold out as apartments and the top floor is also for sale.By the way: the most expensive apartment in the world. The hotel kept some old fashioned curiosities like lift boys/girls, a serviced breakfast ( incredibly expensive) and numerous bell boys and receptionist, of which nobody knows, what exactly they're doing. The rooms and furniture are coming of age and altogether the hotel needs urgently a facelift and an ambitious management . Nonetheless 4 points for tradition, location and style.

Helpful staff, Excellent location & great food service. Good value for the money. It is in the middle of everything walking distance to central park, fifth ave, madison ave, park ave and a little walk to time square. On our way back to the airport there was a street parade blocking fifth ave and the door man walked with our bags to 61st streets and didn't leave until we got a taxi to the airport. that was really very helpful.
