“Great location but...”

Great location, close to Central Park, Times Square and transport but... Air con noisy, there was no hotel facilities book even when we asked for it! Got the feeling we were upgraded as the room was spacious with massage chair. Friendly staff.

Dear Cam A,
Thank you for your recent visit, and your comments. I hope we were able to address your air conditioning while you were with us, and yes you were probably upgraded to our one-bedrooms suites which feature our fantastic massage chairs. They are my favorite. Thanks also for the compliments on the staff- they are very friendly indeed.
We look forward to welcoming you back to New York soon.
Thanks again,

A good, clean, accomodation in midtown NY right off 5th Ave. and just a few blocks south of Central Park. We got a great price on a travel website, and the location can't be beat if you're in town for a play or shopping, etc. Rooms are small, but chique and modern. Valet parking is extra of course - between $45 and $55 a night. Also there is a breakfast buffet (or menu) but it is not free - cost was $17.

Great service, friendly staff. I'd recommend this location and would stay again.

Room Tip: Stay a few floors up, obviously, for street noise. A few restraunts across the street but a quiet b...

Location was good. Did not feel unsafe at any point. Able to walk to Times Square in about 15 mins. Central Park in about 6 mins. Bed was very comfortable. Rooms were small, even by NYC standards. NO hot water to our bathroom sink. Overall, for the price, it was fine.

PH8 was a tiny room in Midtown which was sort of expected due to the location. The location was good and safe. You can walk to a lot of places from here. The closest subway station would not take you to most tourist areas but once you have walked around you can find a subway that would. Champagne at the reception... yeah, right! Reception desk was slow and not too friendly. I don't know about the other floors but our floor's hallway was not pretty at all. The room had a balcony with 2 lounges that seemed like they had never been cleaned (they had a lot of bird poop on them)... so, forget about the balcony. The bed and the carpet were in very bad shape. The a/c did not cool the room below 70F but it was ok since outside was over 90F. The bathroom was small and did not have a tub but worked fine for 2 people. The first night we had to kill three bugs in the room (a centipede, a spider, and a moth) so that would explain a lot on my opinion about the cleanliness of the hotel.
Shoreham was ok but c'mon, 4/5? No way!

Dear Xmaspr,
Thank you for giving your honest feedback on your recent stay. I’m glad you thought our location suited your needs, and that you felt safe. We’re in the heart of New York, yet there’s always a reassuring sense of security in this area, which our guests really appreciate in a big city. I was very disappointed to read about your lack of service in your room and balcony. I have inspected it myself, and have instructed my team to address right away. In regards to the bugs you encountered, we do have a pest management program in place, and have advised them to re-look at any cracks or crevices that might have provided an entry to those unwanted guests. It’s not a common site in our rooms, however I will have them focus on the balcony as well. I would love to regain your confidence to believe we are higher than a 4/5 , as most of our guests rate us. If you will allow me to make it up to you, please contact me directly. It would make me very happy to make you a Shoreham believer again,

Warm regards,
Glenda Maldonado

We were recommended to stay here by a friend who travels to New York regularly. The hotel was in a location close to everything we wanted to do. The staff were fantastic. It was clean and the shower was AMAZING. Thankyou Shoreham for making our New York experience one to remember.

This was a 15th birthday trip to NY for our son. We stay at The Shoreham after all the reviews I read in Tripadvisor. The location is excellent, you can walk to everywhere! 5th Ave, Central Park, Rockefeller Center, Times square. We have two rooms, our sons was tiny, ours was small also, but with a balcony. We do have breakfast at the hotel and paying $17 dlls per person for a continental breakfast buffet in NY, was excellent. Fresh fruit, yogurt, granola, bagels, bread, juice, coffee. The rooms were very clean with aveda products.
We felt very safe walking late at night in the area. Excellent restaurants near by. We went to Milos, very close to the hotel, Serafina, also close. And in cab, Mesa grill and Buddakan, awsomeee and delicious!! Also we have lunch at the Lobster Place (tripadvisor excellent recomendation), Le Pain Quotidien.
We went to see Rock of ages, awsome and Spider man

Room Tip: The penthouse rooms are a little bigger

Dear Lorena G,
Thank you for choosing the Shoreham to stay in New York for your teenager’s birthday celebration. I’m glad you enjoyed our super location, it’s an honor to be in such a fantastic area of New York City. I will be sure and share your feedback on the cleanliness with my housekeeping team, they work so hard to ensure every room is in perfect condition for every new guest. I’m so glad you tried such great restaurants, Milos is one of my personal favorites in this area as well.
We look forward to helping you celebrate many milestones here at the Shoreham.

This was fourth hotel I stayed at with my wife on our honeymoon-roadtrip and we were happy with our stay. That being said, I think improvements could be made.

Presentation (3/5)
We stayed in a penthouse, which had a balcony and a great view of New York City. The bed was comfortable and the design of the room was very nice. There were, however, many finishing touches that were either never done or ignored as far as presentation goes. Many light fixtures, bathroom nozzles and faucets and other details seem to have been slapped together as if in a rush to finish construction. Our bathtub's drain mechanism didn't work, all of the faucets were loose and didn't hold like they should. There was also an odd velvet covering to half the room, which could be a design choice, or could be there to cover something up. Other than that, the lobby was really nice, slick design- but the elevators, hallways seemed a little cramped- but that probably just comes with the territory of being in New York.

Service (4/5)
Excellent service as far as I'm concerned- the staff were all helpful and friendly. However the restaurant hours were a bit confused and it seemed none of the staff were on the same page. One staff member said the restaurant was open for breakfast, the other that it was closed- neither could really direct me where to get breakfast- we just ended up eating at a café.

Room Service/Dining (N/A)
We didn't eat at the shoreham, too much to see and do in NYC that we were always out adventuring instead of dining in.

Location (5/5)
Center of NYC right near 5th, Central Park, Museums, and Times Square all within walking distance. Our balcony had a view of the city which was breathtaking, to be honest I kind of felt like Spider-Man being along side some of New York's skyscrapers. Great experience and best part of the Shoreham.

Room Tip: If you can, get a Penthouse room with a balcony.
