We have just returned from a 4 night stay at the Waldorf Astoria.
Wow what an experience. This is a very old hotel, and indeed does show its age, however do not be fooled it oozes elegance and once inside the reception area/lobby you cant help but feel the ambiance of the hotel.
The staff are all immaculate in their dress, and are so polite and helpful it almost irritates (if that is possible). Everyone appears to be wearing white linen gloves and if they are not busy seem to be polishing any item that stands. The hotel is in midtown manhatton in a perfect location. Approx 10 minute walk to the lively Times Square and the Empire State Building. A few minutes walk to the Rockefella Centre and only a short walk to Bloomingdales and loads of designer shops.
We only had 4 days there and decided to try and visit as many tourist attractions as we could, but wished we had more time to explore the shopping areas as prices were certainly better than in the Uk. We also chose to use the tourist hop on hop off bus which we thought was perfect.
All in all if you plan to visit New York if you dont stay here please make an effort just to visit and see for yourself.More
