.... Mission accomplished. This grand old hotel feels like it has presence and a sense of history. My room was large, had 2 closets and large bathroom, four large picture windows throughout. Room service dinner was delicious and fast.

Stayed 4 nights in this hotel together with my brother. Positive things were:
- big rooms
- no noise at all
- room temperature was perfect
- iconic milieu
- possibility to check out without standing on the line

But for a 4 star hotel in this price category one would have expected
- free wifi in the rooms
- adapters for customers to lend (told they had some, but they were all taken so I had to buy one for myself)
- something special that would have made us feel welcome. Service was really average.

Location of the hotel is ok, but next time I would choose a place near Madison Square Garden where there is a direct train to the airport and better shopping possibilities.

Excellent midtown location, beautiful lobby, grand entrance, good service, all the history, "meet me at the clock at the Waldorf", the place where Presidents stay, etc., etc. All that is great. This is a wonderful grand old NYC hotel, and everyone oughta experience it at least once. This was my first time to return in 25 years. We had a very large King room with fantastic view up Park Ave. Comfy bed. We enjoyed our stay. They have a lovely Sunday brunch in the lobby. BUT, the carpet curtains and the furniture in our room were just plain worn out -- room needs to be redone. The TV did not have any High Def channels. I'll stay here again after they renovate the rooms.

My wife and I used points to stay at the Waldorf for 7 nights at the end of May 2014. To sum up our stay, if I had been paying the regular room rates, I would have been disappointed. Our room was in a dark corner of the building with absolutely no sunlight and a view of a roof (I haven’t stayed in NYC before, so this is probably common with lots of hotels unless you spring for a better room). The room had a musty and humid feel to it. I know this is an old historic hotel, but it felt a little too old for one of the most famous hotels in the world. Luckily we didn’t spend much time in our room so it didn’t matter too much. There were little things that were not ideal. For example, one day we did not receive any new wash clothes. I called the front desk at night to request some and waited 30 minutes, no one came. Called down again and got a canned response that they were on their way, but told them to forget it and we’d just get some in the morning. There was a nice sized closet and the bathroom, although small, was nicely appointed. One note to management on the bathroom…find better shower curtains. During every shower, the lightweight cheap shower curtain would blow into the shower almost to the other wall. We had to find objects to hold it down on the corners so we could shower.

The lobby was amazing with ornate details, however, that’s where the amazingness ended. I’m sure there are some amazing rooms in this hotel, we just didn’t have one. We never ate/drank at any of the bars/restaurants, nor did we order room service so I can’t speak to any of that. Overall we had little interaction with the staff, but what we did have was very courteous. The taxi flaggers outside work hard as well, and we appreciated one of them tracking down a taxi to JFK for us, since no cab drivers wanted to go.

The location was great for most everything we did. Very close to several subway lines, not too far from Central Park, close to 5th Ave, Rock Center, MoMa, etc. There were some nice local eateries around there and plenty of other food options (not much for late at night though). The best bagels are three short blocks away at Essa Bagel.

Given the wealth of hotels and even Hiltons in NYC, I doubt we will stay at the Waldorf again, especially if we don’t use points.

We stayed at this Historic hotel for a weekend trip. Our view from 14th floor looked onto St. Bart's Church and Park Avenue. The mattress and pillows were very clean and comfortable. The hotel is close to Grand Central station about 4 blocks and about 2 from Rockafeller Plaza. The Park Avenue Lobby is beautiful! Has mosaic floor, very tall ceilings, and plenty of natural light. The seating there was comfortable and we actually would walk to one of the 3 nearby Starbuck's in the morning and bring it back to the Park Ave lobby to people watch. It's within a $10-$14 dollar cab ride to attractions like the Met. Museum of Art. Overall the room was clean, the front desk personnel were very nice. The gift store in the hotel had good gifts, supplies, snacks, and addictive caramel candy! The Duane Reed store about a block & a half from the hotel had full stock of medicine and other things we had forgotten to pack. Convenient location for a weekend getaway to Manhattan.

Room Tip: Park Ave View is great and makes the Park Avenue entrance, elevators, and lobby your main entrance/exit which is preferable to the Lexington side.
