“2nd stay and it was great !”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 January 2014

this was our 2nd stay at the travel inn and it was just as good as the first. I booked last Jan for our stay over new years this year. This time our room was on the 6th floor and it was very nice...even abit bigger than the room we had the first time. This hotels location is the best. When we drove into the city it is so close to the tunnel and easy to arrive at. The man working the underground parking lot...same man as in 2011 is super friendly and helpful. Parking is a breeze...as was check in. We arrived at 9 am on new years eve day and knew our room would not be ready so we parked and started walking knowing our vehicle full of our stuff was safe. We went back around 2ish and our room was ready and we checked it. We were back and forth the next 2 days all the time....because this hotel is so close to times square, the theatre district and all the restaurants. Our room was clean and comfortable, I put our garbages and towels out in the hall for the housekeeper the next day when I heard her out there and we got fresh towels and garbages back. Wifi worked well. Deli beside our hotel is a nice feature to have so close. Our stay was great and we will return !

I chose this hotel for the free parking, proximity to Time Square and ease to get to once entering the city. This hotel had all 3. Just a short walk to Time Square - maybe 4 blocks. Very close to Bryant Park which was very nice at Christmas. And the parking was FREE - although a tight squeeze getting in a spot and leaving the garage. The room was big for the city and the area felt safe. There was a police station across the street so you will hear sirens. There was also some sort of hammering and vacuuming from about 2-3am. We were there on a freak warm spell, 70 degrees in Dec. and the room stayed warm, would not cool. The beds were terrible. It was like sleeping on a board. The staff was nice and hotel pretty clean and well maintained for an older hotel. They used very scented products which irritated my asthmatic child a little, but this was just the lobby.

We stayed there for a week and I have to say I was happy to have chosen it. Great location, just three blocks away from Times Square and if u plan to visit the city properly u can take a walk practically anywhere, 5th avenue, Rockefeller center, maycs, Empire State Building, and u have train stations close, don't rent a car and use public transportation (trains are better) it's cheaper and u don't have to deal with expensive parking and traffic. The only thing I didn't like abt the hotel is that they charge you the internet connection ($6 a day) and in the room I was staying the signal was awful, I had to be glued to the window to connect, fix that and it's a 5star hotel. Recommended!

The hotel was very conveniently located a short distance from Times Square. We were at the hotel during Christmas 2012. The hotel room was clean and adequate for our use. The hotel room was for us important issues, refrigerator and microwave. Heating device not found the kind of control that the temperature would have been appropriate. There was always either hot or cold. Otherwise, the hotel was very good. Across the street was a shop and a small walk from a variety of places to eat. I can recommend this hotel for a trip to New York.

The location is a long walk to Time Square but doable if you are a walker. The price was good compared to other hotels in the area. I learned that if you want a reasonable quiet room you must stay on the inside by the pool. We had such a room and it was OK even though you can practically carry on a conversation with the room next to you. The 2nd night of our stay the heater started smoking. They said we will need to pack up and move to another room - we had no help with this and the room we were put in was across from a police station and was ridiculously noisy. They were not willing to discount our stay. What happened to all the great staff we have heard about in other reviews?

Room Tip: inside by overlooking the pool

This was our fourth stay at the Travel Inn. Like all of our previous visits, we enjoyed our stay very much. The hotel is staffed by very friendly people who go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The hotel is spotless. Where can you find a hotel in New York City with a fridge, microwave and free parking?. Oh yes, only two blocks to Times Square. What more could one ask for?

We have stayed at this hotel several times and if you plan your stay at the right time, it can be a real bargain. Their prices are listed on a calendar and if you are flexible with your dates, you can get a very good rate. Our rate originally was $175 per night, but when I checked the rate a week before our arrival, it had dropped to $140 per night. This rate includes parking, which is unheard of in New York City. Internet costs an additional $6 per day - which is not a great deal.

We have never had a propblem with noise before, but this time we were on the "wings" of the main building, on the top floor and we had very inconsiderate neighbors. The floors in the main building are carpeted. In the "wing" they are tile floors. The two nights we stayed at the hotel, our neighbors came back to their room at about midnight and stomped up and down the tile floor with what sounded like tap dance shoes - forever. Then they had loud laughing, screaming conversations until 3 a.m. It was impossible to sleep either night after they returned to their room. The walls on the "wing" seem to be much thinner than the walls in the main part of the hotel. We were not in the detached annex.

We will stay here again but I will be sure to specify that we do not want to stay in this "wing" or in the annex. It is a terrific location and the rooms, though outdated, are clean.
