“Absolutely fantastic...and so guest attentive”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 April 2013

We recently took both teenage boys to NYC and stayed in the Towers. From the moment we arrived and were greeted curbside, to the attention paid in the Astoria Lounge when we'd show up for breakfast, to the excellent concierge services that helped with flowers and restaurants, we could not have asked for a better experience. We've read the reviews, and we know some say the service wasn't good or was inattentive. WE COULD NOT DISAGREE MORE. Housekeeping: quick, prompt, friendly. Room Service: funny and helpful. Concierge: let's just say that we have a permanent friend. Recommendations and help and out-of-the-way service made this memorable. Front desk: remembered our names, knew our reservation, helped with details. And security: well, let's just say we met Secret Service K9 officers as well as hotel security and State Department Security, all of which impressed the boys. Excellent, excellent, excellent.

Room Tip: Ask for a high-level floor (above 26) and on 50th or a corner room

This place was amazing. The Waldorf took my breath away. Everything a small town girl would imagine and dream it would be. Right down to the fluffy bath robes. I think I toured the hotel over and over again just out of amazement. The only reason I gave it a 4 and not a 5....we were woke up in the wee hours of the morning every single night by a fire alarm. And the price on anything out of the mini fridge and bar. I just went down to the local mini mart and kept restocking it. And that price was expected, but it is still ridiculous. Other than that, staying here is a dream. It is very local, walking distance to anything you want. I walked to Time Square a couple of times a day. Beautiful!!! New York should be on everyone's bucket list.

Sady after been an advocate and an ambassador of the one luxurious Waldorf, only stains and dented furniture welcomed the stay that has become the last one on that property.

From the booking process,..waiting upto 10 minutes on hold, when calling from long distance, for a response, to not deserving on my last night a turn down service, over 650 usd a night for this...think it twice.

I am currently staying at The Waldorf Towers. Let me first start by saying that we had originally booked the Waldorf Astoria. We were "upgraded" to stay in the Waldorf Towers after we were checked into a dirty, unmade room that still had dirty towels in the bathtub and trash all over the room.

Once upgraded to the Towers after the first room fiasco, we went to dinner. We came back wanting to have a cocktail in our room- no mini bar! In fact, the menu for the mini bar is there, and the refrigerator was defrosting and hot. We called room service asking to get a drink since the mini bar was defunct (for lack of a better word), and it took over an hour to get two drinks... (We're still waiting!)

I am not a snob, nor am I an inexperienced traveler. I am a retail executive who has stayed in a number of Manhattan hotels and I can safely say I would never stay here again. I have also been a Hilton Diamond member and currently a Gold Member, and I have gotten better service in lesser known, lesser regarded Hilton properties across the country.

I stayed at The Waldorf five years ago with find memories of an excellent experience ( in fact, cashed in points to stay at this NYC landmark!) and it was great. This experience was definitely not the same. Sad.

After a 5-day stay at a 2 bedroom Suite at the main tower (see separate review), I decided to ask for a possibility of moving to a towers accommodation. I was given an offer of US$250/night to a towers one bedroom (upgrade from a main towers luxury room) + 2 spa certificates( 1x50mins. massage/treatment each day). I decided to take the offer and it was indeed a very good choices.
First thing I stepped into the private lobby immediately noticed that the staff are extremely attentive and extra helpful compared to the already very helpful staff at the main towers (but note the main towers lobby is crowded like a museum), there is certainly a residential touch/feel to the towers. We were given suite 35J, and it was splendid--renovated, looking fresh and very nice indeed. The living room is very spacious, classic, with some very nice paintings on the wall. We were told that the 35th floor is the Presidential floor--Joe Biden was here last week! The biggest suites on both corners are hence named "The Presidential Suite" and the "Lyndon B. Johnson Suite" The hallway on the 35th is also more colorful/nice compared to other floors, and there are pictures of previous presidents on the walls of the hallway too!
The only slight criticism is that though the room is very much "fresh" and "renovated" compared to my previous stay at the main tower, there are still showing some signs of wear and tear, and for example I found a corner of the carpet/floor in the master bedroom ripped up (showing the "inner" floor/concrete of the floor--not exactly a pleasant sight
The Astoria Lounge is on the 26th, but really it's nothing to write home about--a big box/room with some tables and chairs for one to read and "relax" . Closes at 4pm?? Perhaps I'm used to "real" lounges elsewhere (esp. in Asia) where they open till late and offers much more to the hotel guests....
We did take advantage of the Spa on the last day, and the service and hardware at the Spa was splendid; definitely one of the best spa experience ever--but certainly won't pay the full price (too steep in my opinion).
Finally, just to mention that the location of Waldorf is extremely convenient--a couple blocks away from the famous fifth avenue with Saks, Bergdorf Goodman and Barneys for shopping lovers, and the Met, Guggenheim and MoMA just a short cab ride away. The Park avenue address is (quietly) tucked away from the main tourist areas of Broadway/times square and central park, so it's the best of both world!
Conclusion: Will definitely love to stay here again, but would suggest try to book a room at the main tower and check the upgrade price upon checkin (you maybe surprised to pick up some bargains! the online advertised rate is a bit insane to be completely honest)

Room Tip: Choose 35th floor for the "presidential floor"

Was skeptical as this was my first trip to NYC. I debated and debated but ultimately glad I chose this hotel. Has to be nicest in town! We traveled with a 10 year old, 17, and 19 year old and they are hard to impress. They loved it. We stayed in the towers and it was amazing service. One word of caution ~ There is not a cafe or bistro here. We arrived at 4pm and there was nowhere to eat in the hotel. Was really suprised there was not a coffee service in the room but otherwise very impressed.

I was staying at the Waldorf and after waiting on line 15 minutes to check in at 9pm, my hhonors gold status upgraded me to the Towers. The front desk gave me a coupon for a free drink in the bar that expired so that was an issue. The room needs an update. Peeling wallpaper in bathroom, rusty gold fixtures, the Bose clock had the wrong clock time, no ice in the ice bucket, bedside lamp was tarnished. Not sure why people spend so much money to stay here.
