When in the theater district of NYC and looking for a restaurant, there is an overabundance of choices. Our past experience with unknowns here has been mixed. With this problem, we walked down 46th Street and noticed a TripAdvisor decal on Sangria 46. Since the reviews were very good we made a reservation. Sangria 46 did not disappoint. It has an excellent selection of Spanish entrees and tapas, wonderful sangria, a very pleasant atmosphere, excellent service and is reasonably priced, especially for NYC. What more could one ask?

The food was delicious - empanadas were my favorite. The Strawberry Peach Sangria was the BEST I have ever had. We also had a pitcher of the Mango, but wished we had just ordered another Strawberry Peach. Enjoyed interacting with the staff. Very pleasant experience until . . . a HUGE roach came crawling down the wall and scared the lady next to us out of her mind. It kind of turned a 5 into a dive. I don't think I can eat there again, but if they had pitchers of that Strawberry Peach Sangria to-go, I'd go back no matter what was on the wall. I know this isn't the only place in the city with bugs, but if this guys made it to the dining room it worries me to think what the kitchen and storage areas may look like. Sorry guys, get an exterminator.

We went here one evening for tapas and sangria. Had a nice selection of tapas to choose from. Especially liked the empanadas and chirizo. The sangria was also really good. The outside garden area added a nice touch. It was very humid the night we were there which made it a little uncomfortable but I'm pretty sure they have no control over the weather. Service was good as well.

The selection of tapas is pretty good and all we tried were tasty if not exactly outstanding. Paella Valenciana also went down rather well. During lunch-time on Friday, the place was not too busy and fairly quiet. Service is friendly, and as our family reunion meal ran for longer than an average meal would be, the waitstaff was quite accommodating.

We were in NYC to see an evening show with friends and saw this place. Looked interesting. It was wonderful. We sat at the bar for happy hour and had excellent sangria. The owner/bartender was extremely interesting and helpful and we talked at length about the times I have spent in Barcelona and other parts of Catalonia. Turns out he was from Argentina and so we got around to discussing Argentinian wines. He gave us several sips of some of his favorite wines from Mendoza. We then retreated to a wonderful outdoor patio covered in grape vines. We shared a table of tapas that made you feel like you were actually in Spain. Grilled octopus, shrimp al ajillo, chorizo, patatas bravas, eggplant with cheese, olives, etc. Along with several glasses of excellent wine. The service was just fine, no one was in a big hurry anyway. The atmosphere and the wonderful personality of the owner and the excellent food made this a very memorable meal. Plus the prices were very good for NYC. Highly recommend this place for people who love good tapas and good Spanish food.
