Popped in here twice during a long weekend in NYC.
We tried the pancakes, french toast, and granola, each time always served with an absolute heap of fresh berries (rasps, blue, blackcurrent and strawberries).
Absolutely yummy.
Servings just about right - large for a visitor from the UK, and the coffee a bit weak for us, but not that bad at all.
Didnt have any problems with the service

I hosted a bridal shower here. The place is really cute and the Mad Hatter service was great. I rented the private room for 2 hours, and it was great, except that the waitress didn't really come by all that often (some people wanted to order cocktails but had to wait around for a while) and the sandwiches and scones didn't come out until a good 30-40 mins into the shower, which was also a bit of a downer because some people were hungry.
They also didn't really help us getting the presents down (the room is on the 2nd floor) and into the car, even though they said they would.

Other than that, it was great! The sandwiches were all delicious, and the teas were amazing, it was fun trying different flavors and types.

Took my 15 year old for afternoon tea. Where do I start? Waitress was not helpful. After she took our order we only saw her when she brought the check. Even though it was a tea, no sugar or cream was brought to the table. Our food was brought by a tatood guy who threw the food on the table. The scones were tasty and warm but they were served with a tiny bit of clotted cream and jam that was hardly enough for one person. Both the water glasses and tea cups were chipped. The sandwiches were not tasty and very big for tea sandwiches. The dessert was just average. The place was not busy so there is no accounting for the bad service and disappearing waitress. On the check it said it is "customary to give and 18% tip"...for what...bad service all around and very mediocre food. And the decor was nothing to write home about either...just wings on the ceiling and photos of anonymous children on the wall. There are so many better tea places in the city. I don't get what all the fuss about this one is though...perhaps "the name".

Tea and scones were tasty. The sandwiches were also very tasty. I preferred the grilled ones over the regular ones. Great atmosphere as it's small and cozy.

Love their tea and sandwiches and especially their scones. I'm planning a date there with my 5 year old niece. Very kid friendly.
