“Great Location, Exceptional Stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 August 2014

We chose The Lucerne Hotel for it's location (upper west side), room size (two full size beds), price, and consistently high ratings here on Trip Advisor. Check-in was quick, and the room we received with the 4 night 20% discount did not have much of a view, but was a nice, large corner room with windows on 2 walls and lots of light. The bathroom also had a window, which was nice. The room was very clean, the beds were comfortable, and the bathroom shower had great water pressure. The hotel's restaurant, Nice Matin, has a wonderful bar and great food. We had breakfast and dinner there, and service was exceptional. There is a shuttle that provides transportation to this hotel (and a handful of others) from both JFK and LGA for approximately $20-30, which was the most economical way to travel between the hotel and the airport. We had no problem catching a cab at the front of the hotel each day, and the neighborhood has a variety of shopping and restaurants/bars to choose from.

The rooms was large and comfortable. The hotel is easy walking distance from Metro station. Therefore it is easy to get downtown Manhattan very quickly. The hotel is close to Central Park, Museum of Natural History and The Met is not too far. The immediate surrounding offers many dinning options, from little deli shops to nice restaurants.
I loved that you could walk down to Hudson river and then follow the Hudson river Greenway - walk up or downtown. Free WiFi was a bonus.
If there was one thing that I would not mind having in a room , that would be little fridge. Still that will not stop me from going there again when visiting New York.

Lovely hotel in a wonderful area - close to so many interesting sites, restaurants, etc., but away from the noise and crowds.
Room was beautifully appointed and very comfortable.
Staff were excellent - friendly and welcoming.

Had the best 6 night stay at this hotel. Loved the location, lots of shops around neighborhood didn't realise how many and many that have had excellent reviews such as zabars. The hotel was lovely and staff were brilliant especially the doormen/porters who were super friendly and polite who made you feel extremely welcoming and always acknowledged us when coming in and out the hotel. The cleaners did a fab job of ensuring our room was clean and tidy everyday and made our beds for us and kept us well stocked with toiletries. There is a concierge service available but we didn't need to use. Our room was very spacious with 2 double beds and a double wardrobe, so plenty of room for the 3 if us. The hotel has a lovely gym and business suite also some vending machines. I would definitely recommended this hotel and if I ever get the opportunity to go to NY again I would. stop here again. The train station is located on 79th street so getting around us easy and also lots of nearby places to walk to. The beds are super comfy the hotel looks even better when you are there than on the pics. We also asked if we could extend our checking out time to a little bit later which was no problem even though we had 2 rooms booked. A very big thank you to staff for making our stay brilliant. Especially to the doorman/porter and cleaners.

Room Tip: explore area around hotel as there are lots of shops and places to eat and even a cinema that we saw...

If you want to a place in west side, this is a good choice. We stayed in a suite for 2 weeks. The front desk people need to smile every now and then. I really appreciate that the check in was really quick! They also let us get to our room early. The beds were very soft, some people might not like it. The rooms were ok. I wished they did a better job cleaning our suite, but it wasn't so bad. My mother wanted me to complain about the housekeeping because they would knock our door when we had the do not disturb thing on to ask if our room needed to be cleaned. They called us once to tell us when their shift ends. When they did clean the rooms, they didn't really do a great job. They cleaned it on a daily basis, but I think they wanted to get it done at an earlier time, I guess.
I might stay at another hotel next time, just because the rooms seriously need to be refurbished.

Room Tip: Get a room on a higher floor. Great views.
