It looked great in the website and in the reviews. One tend to be apprehensive and the acid test is when you actually see for yourself. I must confess that Bentley lived up to the billing and in fact exceeded my expectation. Your first impression at check-in usually sets the stage. The doorman observed us getting off the taxi and had the door open, the lady that checked us in was courteous, efficient and helpful. Our room was tastefully decorated and my wife and I particularly loved the luxurious looking beds with elegant headboards. The views from our room was fantastic: the river, park, overview of sorrounding buildings. Room was clean, comfortable and quite (It is Manhattan, so naturally you'll hear sounds of sirens and traffic, but not disturbing to a restful sleep). We did not try the food either at the restaurant or room service since I was fasting- we plan to do so at our next stay. Our stay ended in the same high note as when we checked-in. Excellent service with courtesy and high efficiency by the bell boy in storing our luggage and by the doorman;obviously the service oriented culture is well entrenched. We, of course, enjoyed our stay and will be returning very soon for a week(maybe longer) !

Room Tip: Rooms in the higher floors have fantastic views!

We stayed at the Bentley for 3 nights. As tourists we left the hotel at 9.30am and returned at 9pm. Therefore, all we were looking for was a comfortable bed and a good shower. We got both at The Bentley.
My only gripe is not with the hotel itself but it's location, you have to be prepared to put in some walking mileage unless you're going to get a cab everywhere.
I have no complaints with the hotel itself, the room was clean, large comfy bed and good shower.
I guess it depends what your looking for from your stay. It's not a luxurious hotel and I could pick hairs about room size, the view, the decor but it did the job for us and I'd stay again (if location was better).

Our average room size is 280 square feet and this is on the larger side compared to many NYC hotels and I would argue that The Bentley has some of the best hotel views in all of Manhattan! Being able to see the East River, 59th St Bridge, Roosevelt Island, Long Island City, Williamsburg Bridge and the borough of Brooklyn is certainly not common and we receive an incredible number of compliments about this!

Although we are a 10 minute walk to the closest subway line, our location in many ways is ideal as guests are able to be away from the hustle and bustle of Manhattan. If guests plan on walking to and from Times Square during their stay, I agree, the 45 minute walk each way could very well get tiresome.

We do thank you for choosing The Bentley and look forward to welcoming you back!

This was our second stay at the Bentley. This time around was a shorter stay and in a smaller room. The personnel are wonderful and the rooms are clean and comfortable. We did notice the shortage of doormen this time around. Other than that, I would recommend this hotel to my friends.

We are thrilled to hear that The Bentley will be recommended to your friends and family. Positive word-of-mouth is invaluable in this industry and quite honestly, the most cost-effective marketing tool!

Thank you for your comments about the door staffing levels. Our scheduling strategy has not changed in this area, it is quite possible this could have been busier than usual times, in front of the hotel. During peak times, the door staff can be occupied for extensive periods, hailing cabs for guests, especially during late afternoons.

Had a great stay here in early January. Rooms were cold, though, and shower took a little bit to warm up. Attentive staff made for a great stay nonetheless.

Rooms are gorgeous and restaurant is top-notch!

In addition, hot water is something that should arrive to guestrooms within seconds, and again, please accept our apology for the wait time.

Except for one member of staff ( do not remember name) a Dominican man, there is nothing to highlight.
Even had to change the key cards various times (3) because they were demagnetized for no reason. I did not have them near cell phones because I did not bring one with me. I was trated as if it was my fault.

We are incredibly sorry about your frustrating experience. Unfortunately from time to time, we are at the mercy of technical failures in this business and by no means should have felt as though it was your fault. This is not the case and until we move to RFID technology with the guestroom key cards, they occasionally will get demagnetized, from various sources.

Once again, please do accept our apology and we do hope that The Bentley receive another opportunity to prove what service levels, we are known for and more often then not, capable of delivering.

Easy to drive to and park in NYC. We didn't have a lot of time but the fantastic staff were so helpful we got great advice and got everywhere we wanted to go. It is very clean and comfortable, we will stay there again because of the location and the great experience we had with them.

The hotel was good value for the money but was not very soundproof. The hotel provided ear plugs and you could hear other guests when you were using the bathroom and you could hear the traffic from the very busy FDR freeway.. A night there never seemed to be any hot water. The staff was friendly and the room was very clean. There was expensive wifi and local calls were not free. The lobby was very small but serviceable. The view from the 16th floor of the river was nice. About 5 blocks to the subway.

Room Tip: Higher floors with a river view are nice

Sorry to hear that you felt the bathroom wasn't very soundproof and you experienced some hot water challeneges. Hopefully our maintenace staff were able to address and resolve the challenge.
