“Good Location”

Be careful when you book a room here as what we found out a double means exactly that!! No room to "swing a cat". You are offered an upgrade which we took at an extra cost but only for the large bed it wasn't much better than the first room. They say you have a microwave and small kitchen but they didnt say only in the suites. The Wellington is well located and the staff very pleasant but it needs a good make-over, The Foyer is always full of groups, the air conditioning is noisy and the view from most of the rooms in our block was the back of old office buildings. For the price it wasnt worth it,

Room Tip: Higher floors have less noise. Read reviews from other site engines before booking

We stayed here for 2 nights as part of an organised tour. We were on the 17th floor and at certain times (mainly morning) it took a long while for a lift to arrive - and when they did they were usually full and simply stopping at every floor.

Our room was pretty small but front side facing onto 7th Avenue. The air conditioning was very noisy and we switched it off and opened the window on the *Saturday* night....but at 1.30 AM on the Sunday morning the DUSTMEN came emptying bins for about 15 minutes.....they had just gone and suddenly some men arrived and started DRILLING in the street which went on for about 45 minutes - 2am on a SUNDAY morning in the city that doesn't intend anyone else to sleep...ever.....

We gave up, shut the window and put the aircon on!

Beds are comfortable with very clean bedding. The bathroom really is ridiculously small and I accidentally flooded the floor once when the shower curtain blew the wrong side of the bath :-(

Towels are white and reasonably fluffy, there's some nice shampoo and lotion and the shower was efficient - apart from blasting the curtain over the edge...

We ate twice in the connected diner downstairs and found it *amazingly* cheap for central NYC with very polite and friendly staff.

Location really couldn't be bettered and this is why I would come back and stay in this hotel again. Right next to Carnegie Hall and 2 blocks from Central Park which was amazing on a really warm Sunday afternoon with many thousands of people out there enjoying it - people were like ants all over it!

Times Square is 5 blocks down - as a location this hotel is really up there.

I would definitely stay here again and recommend it for a value for money hotel right in the centre of the action.

Recently went to New York for work. The hotel is a little dated but the location and the staff make up for the decor. I have stayed in many 5 star hotels over the years that lack the warmth and friendliness that make this hotel special. At the end of the day for the price it is good value!

I have just returned from a two night stay at the Wellington as part of an organised tour.
I may have been unlucky but my stay was not good.
The room I stayed in(46) was not clean ,very dated and really shabby. The shower head was like something out of a sc- fi movie.
The reception staff were not very pleasant and to top it all,we got stuck in a very old lift.
Others on the trip had better rooms but apart from the great location,I would give this hotel a miss if booking a stay in New York

My sister and I booked the hotel through an agent, and we both thought it was fairly average, which is inkeeping with the price. We had requested a twin room, but on arrival were told we had been 'upgraded' to a queen 'suite', which pleased us, but that we could not check in for another couple of hours. We went for lunch and when we returned, were given our keys and went to our 'suite' which turned out to be small room with a single queen-sized bed and a miniscule bathroom. It wasn't ideal as we had wanted two beds but by that time we were too worn out to complain - in hindsight, I wish that we had. The room was clean, but the air conditioning was noisy, the bathroom was very small with no ventilation and as we were on the 23rd floor, we usually had to wait quite a while for the lift - there are only three small, shaky lifts which is totally inadequate. The staff were friendly enough and fairly helpful. We thought the staff in the connected diner were rude though, and only went there once.
On the whole it was an okay hotel in an excellent location, but not one I would want to stay in again.

We love the Wellington. Right in Midtown, next to the Subway, theatre and shopping. Steps from Times Square! Location location location! Lobby and service great. Rooms are adequate. I don't go to New York to stay in my room...

The best placed traveller friendly place in NY for those on a budget. Close to central park, quick walk to times square, broadway & 'hop on. hop off' bus just across the road. While the rooms are a little small they are clean, beds soft & service good and your in New York - 7th Ave! Bathroom clean with all ammenities. Access to lift & stairs. Diner downstairs provides a good option for breakfast bit dont go past 'fluffy's' for a great coffee & food at a reasonable price. Will definately stay there again
