“Fantastic location, right opposite Grand Central!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 July 2014

Four days in New York (including Independence Day!) for a very reasonable price. Nice room with a very comfortable, big bed, and kept very clean by the staff. The reception staff were very friendly, and even checked in for, and printed my boarding passes when the time came. My only little niggle would be that Wifi was only available for free in the in the lobby, else it was around $15 a day.

We really found this hotel to be conveniently located to everything. Our room had the most comfortable bed. The room was very clean. The beds were firm and we slept great. The breakfast was really good, not your typical hotel breakfast. We will definitely return.

A personal and quaint hotel in a brilliant location. The hotel has character unlike some of the 'concrete block' chains widely found in the US. The staff are just delightful, friendly, warm, helpful in fact some of the best you could wish to meet. The lovely little waitress in the courtyard bar area was just so pleasant without all the fake 'in your face' approach, delightful.

Rooms are not big but then that tends to be the norm in NY however in saying that they are spotlessly clean with lovely bathrooms, more importantly though it is quiet so you can be assured of some good rest.

Some of the best Chicken Tenders to be had served in the lovely Irish Bar courtyard is just a great way to wind down after a hectic day in this incredible city. Next door to the Hotel there is an excellent coffee shop where they serve proper coffee not hot milk with a dash, again lovely staff. WiFi in reception is quite fast and free.

I visit New York probably once a month and of the the Hotels that my Company uses for me this one is by far the best, I may sound biased but I really was thrilled when we were told at JFK that we were staying at this establishment. I knew the service would be 5* and I would get some rest.

Oh not forgetting the location ! New York is an amazing city and it certainly bombards every sense especially your hearing (its loud) but if you have never been it must be on your visitor list. The Fitzpatrick is an ideal accommodation for all the reasons mentioned and although room rates anywhere in the city are higher than normal food and entertainment in this city can be very good value. Love it !

Thought I would try this place since I got a great rate on Booking.com and it's nice to stay close to the train station. It's literally just steps away and it's great when you want to store your luggage at the hotel and then pick it up right before going to the station.

Check-in was smooth and the staff was extremely friendly. Plus, they had lemonade in the lobby, which was perfect on a summer afternoon.

I got a room on a lower floor, but it wasn't noisy and there was a lot of light, which was great. Room was bigger than expected and had great amenities. Toiletries were particularly superb. Will definitely stay again.

Stayed at Fitzpatrick for 2 nights to celebrate our anniversary and attend Yankees/Red Sox game. Took train into NYC and booked this hotel for its proximity to Grand Central Station. Upon check -in we were greeted by a very friendly desk staff and instead of standing at a desk there were cushioned chairs to sit in. Small, quaint lobby. Front desk staff all congratulated us on our anniversary and we were expediently checked in to our rooms. I had reserved a deluxe king room..to our surprise they upgraded us to a beautiful suite on the top floor at no extra charge!! But wait.. it gets better- the hotel also sent us champagne and chocolate dipped strawberries!! The suite was quiet, spotless and tastefully decorated with two tvs in the sleeping/sitting area and even one in the bathroom! The bath was huge and again- spotless. The bed was so comfortable!
We ordered room service drinks and ate a light dinner and full breakfast at the Wheeltapper pub.. all the food was very good. The only thing that I missed was an ice machine .. you had to call room service to have ice delivered to your room but it was delivered quickly. We will definitely return to this fabulous hotel!

This hotel is conveniently located to where I need to work and is staffed with friendly people. It is comfortable, but dated. The interiors of the room appear to have been renovated a few separate times, but with no coherant theme throughout -- "classic" brass lamps; modern giant red headboard; 90s blue tile with pattern in bathroom -- it is all over the place. I like that the bath products are unique and not too flowery/perfum-y. The Irish connection is strong and if you care about having a hotel with an Irish connection, then this may outweigh the decor issues. I think if they just went with the Irish theme in all aspects, it would be a classy, clean, place to stay. The breakfast at the restaurant is excellent -- but it is unclear what you have to do to qualify for the breakfast voucher. I recommend asking before you book. They also have a cancellation policy of charging for 1 night if you cancel within less than 24 hours so beware. I think there are nicer hotels for the rates charged here -- but they vary.

We checked in for 4 nights and were immediately impressed by the quality of the room offered. It was on the front over the enrtrance canopy and was large and quiet. The shower room was huge - a 10ft sq wetroom with quality cosmetics. There was a complimentary safe and coffee maker. The bed was huge and very comfortable and the entire room was spotless.
After checking in we went to 'Wheeltappers' the Irish pub on the ground floor and ate a delicious meal with a few drinks all good value and not expensive. Breakfast was also taken in Wheeltappers and it too was first class.
The world cup football was on during our stay and there was an outside bar behind the hotel.
It looked to me like it might have once been an alley that had been closed and one end bricked up since it was surrounded by tall buildings.
There was a large TV screen at one end and tables everywhere. There were fans on the walls to keep the temperature right and covers to pull over if it rained. The atmosphere was good wether there was football on or not and we ate there several times. Keiran was particularly helpful to us.
All in all a highly recommended, classically styled hotel under the shadow of the Chrysler Building and within walking distance to most of New Yorks sights.

Room Tip: The rooms at the front have views out over the street but no real views due to being surrounded with...
