I have stayed in many hotels in Manhattan over the past ten years, but I have to say, this one was my favorite. Was it the most elegant? no, but it has a vibe that you can't explain until you're there. To start off, a week before our arrival date, I received an email from Jennifer in guest services welcoming me to my upcoming stay. Well, you would think that this was a generic form letter...it wasn't. I shot an email back to her, and in 5 minutes, I had a response. Wow, that never happens. She helped me efficiently for all my extra needs.

We arrived to a very friendly staff and quick check in. The location was spectacular, in Times Square, but faces 8th, so you feel far enough removed from the hustle bustle. All you need to do is turn the corner at 48th or 49th and you are in the middle of it all. The room was large by times square standards. The best bonus for me was NO SMOKING!! Wow, I have been to very expensive hotels where I can still smell smoke from other floors. No worries at the Garden Inn. The restaurant Pigalle's (not sure I spelled it correctly) was perfect for breakfast, the food was great. Never tried it for dinner, but heard it was really good (according to my Playbill). Just around the corner is a Food Emporium. We were able to purchase some staples to store in the fridge in the room. The beds were extremely comfortable, and the furniture is modern and efficient. This hotel is the perfect size. Not so big that you have to wait 5 minutes for an elevator (Marriott Marquis), and not so small that you feel you're in a B & B. I could go on and on, but let me sum up by saying that you won't regret staying at this hotel.

This hotel is in Times Square just one block from Broadway. Excellent location! Gray Line tour bus stop (I highly recommend this) is half a block away, stores, restaurants, snacks, souvenirs, are on the same block and everything is within close walking distance. I highly recommend staying here...you're in the heart of the action and the hotel itself is wonderful. The staff is superb both in service and friendliness. Two thumbs up!

When we arrived for early check in we were assisted by Nick. He was awesome - very friendly and checked us in quickly! He apologized for not having a room with a better view available (we were checking in at 10:30am - way before most people would've been checking out so lack of a room with a view is understandable, but our room was on the 14th floor and it was great!!!) and even offered us vouchers for breakfast that day.

The room was a very good size for an NYC hotel room - the bathroom was a little cramped for 2 people to get ready in - the toilet was in the way, but it was just a minor detail. Housekeeping was friendly and responded quickly to our request for extra pillows. The bed seemed a bit hard at first as we’re used to our memory foam, but it was actually quite comfortable and we woke up well rested. It wasn’t noisy, but we always travel with ear plugs…

We were offered free breakfast vouchers at the onsite restaurant for each morning of our stay. The wait staff was friendly and quick. The food was quite tasty and the portions were very large – were able to skip lunch – if you’re looking to save a bit of money, it was a great deal!

The location is central to everything Times Square/Broadway. It’s also close to the subway – if you decide to use public transportation to get there, it’s a very quick walk from the subway station.

Hotel is just five minutes from Times Square and so is fantastically located. The road outside is busy as some reviewers have noted but hey this is New York! A few sirens and car horns is all part of the excitement of the big city! I am a very light sleeper but was not bothered once in the three nights we stayed. The rooms are compact but nicely appointed and the beds are extremely comfortable. Bathrooms are a little bit plasticky but I am struggling to find fault overall. Add to that very nice check-in and concierge staff and the free starbucks coffee in reception in the mornings and this is a great hotel especially given the price. It isn't cheap by normal hotel standards but is great value for New York.

Dear Smh66,

We are so glad you enjoyed your 3 night stay and that you were not affected by the sound of NYC while you slept, it must have been our great Evolution beds! As you mentioned as well we are in a great location, we are less than a minute away from the Times Square! We hope you will visit New York City in the near future and chose Hilton Garden Inn Times Square!

Me and my friends stayed at this hotel for 5 nights. Great location, middle of everything (5 minutes to Time Square center, Port Authority and Rockefeller). I've stayed in few other hotels in NYC that had about same star-rating, and this was the best. Room wasn't too small (as often problem), it wasn't noisy at all (4th floor, window facing 49th str.) and bed & pillows were super comfy. Staff was normal/helpful, we didn't need their help much. This was just before and during the ash situation in Europe and emails were answered in a day and very politely as I had questions about our reservation (if the flight had been cancelled). The bathroom was a little worn out, not exactly the latest model, but it didn't really matter. Newspaper delivered, room cleaned properly every day. We loved it and it was great price for the location and quality! Highly recommend this hotel.

Dear MariM76,

I am glad you got an early check in of 10:30am; our housekeeping department works very hard for early check-ins to be possible. We are also glad you enjoyed your breakfast; I bet Nick knew you guys would enjoy a good hearty breakfast in Pigalle’s Restaurant! Our hotel is a perfect location for shopping, subways, and restaurant as you have experience! I hope that next time you visit we will be able to provide you will a room with a view!!

Thank you,
