Nice hotel. But why don't they offer free Wi-Fi. This annoyed me no end. There was a great little restaurant, where had breakfast every day, Bluebell, which had free Wi-Fi. I don't understand hotels that have not adopted free Wi-Fi.

Thank you for posting your review on TripAdvisor! We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience and opinion!

We are priced very competitively and many of the boutique hotels in our area do charge a fee for Wi-Fi as well. We do offer our business center with free internet access as well as printing services also we offer complimentary Wi-Fi in our guest lounge.

I am sorry that you found this to be an inconvenience and will be sure that your opinion is heard.

We hope to see you again soon!

Sincerely,

Although a bit disappointed with the size of the room, I still recommend The Marcel as a good hotel option.
It's a small sophisticated hotel with a lovely terrace where you have a wonderful skyline view of NY.
Its location is perfect if you want to scape from the turmoil of midtown NY.

stayed here for a work trip, my reservation was messed up through a deal on hotels.com, but the manager and front desk staff helped resolve it and they didn't have to. Super nice & helpful staff, and free wine in the lobby Wed-Friday nights! Right next to a great NY bagel shop and next to great bar, the Taproom. Quiet hotel. Also has a roof lounge with free coffee and nice view of city.

Room Tip: rooms are small with 2 double beds but cozy and lovely decor. They provide earplugs if concerned ab...

This hotel is perfect if you would like to see parts of NYC that are not tourist traps. If you are into exploring local shops and resaraunts, this is a great location. You can easily walk to interesting neighboorhood and find some neat little local shops. It is literally right around the corner from a train station, that can easily take you to a tourist desitnation if you want to see the sites, but it is far enough away that when you step out of your room you will not be bombared with tourists and Olive Gardens... It was a great price, but the rooms are VERY small. Not a bad deal if you plan on spending most of your time exploring the city.

Most comments from previous reviewers are accurate. This hotel is in a great location and the staff are very helpful, especially Britney at the front desk. Some of the rooms have problems with the ventilation system and it can be noisy if you are on a lower floor. I would suggest you check your room and switch as soon as possible if there are problems. The beds are very comfortable. Be sure to walk to Madison Square park and try the food trucks parked outside near Eataly. Great nearby coffee at Gregory's coffee a few blocks west on 23rd.

Room Tip: Choose a floor on the upper level

I gave this place 3 because it is listed as a 4-star property. It is a nice property with great staff and good decor, but it is really more of a 3 or 3.5 star property. I'd give it a 4 rating if it were 3 star. The good: proximity to 23rd St and Mad Square Park, decor, friendly front desk, evening wine reception, decor. The bad: minuscule outdated dimly lit bathroom, noisy A/C, tight room (I think my room was the smallest on the floor possibly due to my bargain website reservation). The bottom-line is that they have most of what you'd expect from a 4-star hotel, but the outdated bath and A/C unit doesn't give you the feeling that you just stayed at one.

Room Tip: Rooms facing 24th street are probably larger than rooms facing 3rd Ave
