“Stay clear way overpriced”
Reviewed 22 October 2013

Having stayed the hotel the night of the 22nd of September for approx. $250 I requested the same rate for the 23rd and even though rooms were available I was quoted approx. $480.

They did offer a slight discount which still was not in the area of reasonability. The room I was given (as a Rewards member) was much smaller than some cabins I have had on cruise ships. They have no food or beverage facilities yet wanted $480 per night? FYI I got rooms at the Helmsly Palace for less than was quoted and they even had space for a chair in the room and food and beverage options right in the hotel.

Your front desk personal were wonderful but other than that never again.

Thank you for providing us with feedback from you stay. I am disappointed to hear that you found the hotel to be lackluster compared to the rates charged. Rates do fluctuate based upon occupancy, availability, etc and may vary from one day to the next. Our hotel rates are set competitively with our neighboring hotels to offer the best hospitality experience possible. The restaurant attached to our hotel is currently renovating in order to enhance our overall guest experience - I do greatly apologize we were unable to offer this amenity to you during your stay. The hotel does have a 24 deli next door that will deliver directly to your room and allows guests to sign charges to their hotel bill! Should you find yourself back at our hotel, please don't hesitate to ask for recommendations from the dozens of restaurants within a few blocks of our location. I am very pleased to know that our staff made a positive impression upon your stay with us. Thank you again for your feedback! Best wishes - Justin Scarpa, General Manager. justin.scarpa@marriott.com

OK, if you want a hotel in Manhattan in a decent area you are going to pay a lot of money. This place is good value for your money and has a great location off 5th Avenue and on 40th Street. They have done some renovations. The room was very clean, comfortable bed and lots of good towels. Nicely appointed which the ladies will appreciate. Large windows. Get a room as high above the street as possible as Manhattan can be very noisy regardless of location. Two elevators can be slow depending on foot traffic/check outs. Staff are super friendly and competent so that is a huge bonus. Lobby isn't much, but who cares as you just walk through it. On weekdays you get a complimentary USA Today newspaper. Very close to Bryant Park and Times Square. Not the easiest access to the subway system, but when in Manhattan walking is lots of fun.

Room Tip: Get a room up high and a room ending in 04 means lots of window space and views.

Quite ok hotel, a bit old rooms, but nice and clean rooms. Service and cleaning is very good.
Hotel has no breakfast but a very good Deli next door.
Hotel is located 30 meters from 5th avenue and in walking distance to e.g. Macy's, Rockefeller center, Empire state, etc. No special view from hotel room only to backyards. The location makes it a good choice for a shorter stay.

VERY comfortable beds. Manager emails personally before your stay with his contact info. Close to Grand Central station. More impressive experience than the minimal lobby leads you to believe you'll have. I never visited the 2nd floor coffee/business center area. 24-hour deli next door too.

I have stayed at this Courtyard four times. The reason I come back is the rooms are clean and only seven on a floor. The people running the front desk are knowledgable and polite.
It is close to all the Times Square activities without the noise and crowds. There are inexpensive places to eat close by as well.
I will be going there again when I come to New York.

Room Tip: The lower floors look into the building next door, so keep the shades closed!.

When coming to NYC to visit our daughter, we always book a room here. The locations is by far the best; walk to Grand Central, walk to the subway, walk to Time Square, walk to Bryant Park and yet away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The rooms are very clean, beds way too comfy and the front desk most helpful. The restaurant next door has Starbucks coffee and continental breakfast, and the bodega also next door has whatever else one needs. Staying here is a no brainier! Just make sure you book at this particular Courtyard as there are a few nearby and this one is the best!

Room Tip: Queen rooms facing the city are lovely, light and bright. Quiet is not an option in any hotel in th...

Typical of what I had expected in New York. It was high season so this was one of cheaper places and of reasonably good quality. Rooms were clean and had free wifi. There were 2 lifts, one was out of order on one evening but it was quickly fixed when we came back from dinner so they're pretty efficient. It's New York so while I was surprised at first to see the people working in the office right opposite when I looked outside the room window, the simple solution was just to pull the blinds down for privacy - not an issue. The only thing were the walls are a bit thin, so we could hear the people at the lifts - maybe guests should be a bit more considerate of others especially in the middle of the night!
