The very elegant Metro Hotel has offered best of both worlds - great location and comfort and that's what you want when you're on a break in New York!
Hotel Metro is right in the heart of the City, at the door of Empire State Building, 5th Avenue, 6th Avenue, Macy's for shopping addicts ;) with walking distance to all attractions. Our visit lasted only 5 days, that was not enough to see all we wanted to, inspite of the close proximity to most of the iconic places.
I need to mention to everyone who wants to start and finish the fabulous time in NY to visit Top Roof Garden Bar - in the night!!
Come out of the Metro Hotel and turn left, once you reach 5th Avenue turn right. Walk all the time on the right side of the Avenue (I think about 4-6 blocks...) along you should see a sign outside inviting you to Roof Top Garden (I think it might be No 230 ??..... ) then walk into the building and the lift will take you to the garden exposing absolutely stunning views of the City with the Empire State Building right in front of you with Chrysler Building further on....
Then seat and enjoy your drink and food wrapped around in a very friendly, warm (heaters provided) atmosphere surrounded by the exquisit moment that will stay in your memory forever.
Well, let's get back to the ground ;)
The Metro Hotel is very tidy with cleaning services every day, very, very comfortable beds. Great part of the hotels service is the free continental breakfast served from 7.30 until 11.00, yummy and filling so much that we didn't eat anything until evening.
Please also bear in mind that you are going to be staying in a hotel that is in the centre of the city, meaning, you will hear all the time, I mean it, all the time! noises of the life in New York City ..... there's a purpose for the saying "The City Never Sleeps" and in very fact it does not. If you are a light sleeper as I am, supply yourself with earpluggs, you will need them for the night.
I would go on and on about it but I don't want to spoil your own astonishment in exploring the City. Just to mention that it was great to take the New York Water Taxi (Yellow one) to explore the vieww of Manhattan from the water and if you will take the Sightseeing Bus (Yellow as well) take the long route as the short one is not really fulfilling. Buy a ticket that is encompassing the Water Taxi and Sightseeing Bus it is very economical and well worth it.
Have an unforgattable time in this buzzing with life city!!
