“Great oasis after crazy day”
Reviewed 15 July 2014

My trip was for business and the location of the hotel was prime for my work.

I checked in after a particularly grueling day and was greeted with a smile and a "Miss, you've been upgraded to a King Suite". How wonderful and completely smart of them. I walked into a lovely large living room with a large flat screen TV, desk, bar with a lovely single serve coffee maker with several coffee choices. I ordered room service and it was delivered quickly and was delicious. Continental breakfast is a selection of bagels, pastries, fruit...enough to get you through the morning.

The hotel is quaint and clean. Service was impeccable. I would highly recommend the hotel if you're in staying midtown.

Nothing to criticise, plenty to like about this hotel. We stayed here for 8 nights. Very typical of the type of hotel we like and we chose well. Smallish hotel. Rooms not huge but big enough. Comfy bed, very clean room, nice toiletries in bathroom. Very helpful, friendly staff (especially James the coincerge and Glen the doorman). Breakfast was more than adequate, got good connection through wifi, location great for seeing the sights. Would definately recommend.

Room Tip: Rooms higher up and to the back are quieter.

we stayed here from the 30th june - 3rd july for our honeymoon. this was our first time in NYC and we loved every moment, from check in to check out.

we checked in and were told our room was 206 i think (12th floor). we arrived at the door an opened it, we could not belive our eyes! lounge with 50" tv, bedroom with 42" tv and a bathroom with triple head shower, veiws of the ESB from the lounge and bedroom. also on the table was a bottle of bubbles in an ice bucket with a loverly message.this was not the room we had paid for and had been upgraded due to honeymoon. Thank You!!!

the stay got better, you could walk to almost anywhere in NYC, we even walked to Brooklyn bridge althoughit did take a couple of hours.

we ate in the hotel for the complimenty breakfast, this was nice and more than adequte for the day ahead. we also ate there a couple of evenings at the metro grill. food and bar outstanding, very welcoming.

the roof top bar was great and with outstanding views. if i had a gun put to my head and had to pick one fault with this hotel, the only thing i could say is that the roof top bar would be even better if it stayed open a little longer or opened earlier.

this hotel is a class act and i would stay here again and reccomend it to anyone in a heart beat.

Well done Hotel Metro!!!

Room Tip: high floor rooms will have less street noise. we were on the 12 floor at the front and didnt hear a...

My boyfriend and I planned our trip 10 months ago for my 22nd birthday. We loved the look of Hotel Metro and it offered everything we required - complimentary breakfast, complimentary tea and coffee available all day, complimentary wifi and it's location was ideal for when you needed to pop back, have a relax and then continue viewing the great city. We arrived on the 4th July (my birthday and American Independence day) at 2.00am to find our room 512, was beautifully clean, more than big enough and had laid out water, a birthday card and chocolates. We unpacked and went straight to sleep. The noise of air con or generator did not bother us at and the bed was extremely comfy. In the morning we normally went down to breakfast after 8/9am and never had any problems finding a table.

Brilliant breakfast with tea, coffe, apple juice, orange juice, toast, coissants, muffins, pastries, bagles, fruit, yoghurt. All sorts. As true brits, we filled up on what was there and then saved an apple for a later snack. We never had any problems finding a table as discussed by some on trip advisor.

Location was so ideal. 5 minutes from Empire State, 10 minutes from Times Square, 10 minutes from Grand Central, 2 minutes from Macys, 1 min from Subway station, on the street various bars and places to eat. When visiting the Brooklyn Bridge, Ground Zero, Battery Park, Statue of Liberty area, would recommend going on the Subway, if you are savvy with London Underground system, you will be fine!. Metro card costs $10, wirh $9 credit. Each journey costs $2.50 and I would recommend travelling around this way, rather than taxis. The hotel is a tourists dream as we broke up our days so we could always come back to our hotel for a quick rest.

The members of staff were fantastic, didn't really have many opportunities to speak to the men and women at the main desk, but spent a lot of time talking to James at the concierge desk and Glenn who stored our bags for us on the last day and they gave us all the information we needed. The maid(s) who cleaned our room did a fantastic job and made it a relaxing room to return to, we even had several days when the maid had comically placed my cuddly toy in various standing positions on the bed!

We absolutely loved the rooftop bar, as my boyfriend is a photographer we were lucky enough to sit up here and get timelapses of the surrounding area. We were aware of the priceyness of the bar before going (about $10 a drink) and so only treated ourselves to one drink each.

We stayed at Hotel Metro for 5 nights and had the most amazing holiday. I genuinely believe that this hotel was the best hotel for us and would recommend to anybody. Obviously you are never going to please everybody that walks through the door, but we are a down to earth, realistic couple and same for the sights, not for the hotel. Would definitely visit again!

Top Tip - ALWAYS get a yellow cab to the airports. Do not be sucked in by staff telling you then can book you a car. We got over charged and should have stood our ground and said we were going to hail a cab! Other than that.. STILL EXCELLENT.

When you stay in a chain, you could be anywhere in the world. Stay in the Metro and you know you are in New York! It's like stepping back to the 1940's too, real classic and chic feel about the place, a bit of class but at a very good price. Like a lot of New York rooms, they are not big, but other than to crash at the end of a full day, you hardily in it. You want to make full use of your time and found the free breakfast was great. Simple, very fresh, delicious and quick to eat and your back out exploring. Even at breakfast they create a nice atmosphere with Frank Sinatra playing and attentive staff. They have a nice roof terrace bar and great view of the Empire State Building.

So for location, style, helpful staff and the price, this place a great choice!

This is really nice Hotel in a good position for sightseeing, shopping and very handy for subway and local buses. The Staff are very friendly and courteous and the Hotel is very clean with quality furnishings and décor and had a very comfy bed. Breakfast was nice, fresh bagels, cupcakes and pastries, choice of cereals, oatmeal, yoghurt's and fresh fruit, Tea Coffee and juices. Tea/coffee making machine was in room, but drinks are available 24hrs in rear of lobby in Breakfast area so you can take up to your room or was nice to take to rooftop terrace to sit where you overlook the Empire State building. Has a nice looking gym didn't have time to use it though .Would recommend this Hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms at front of Hotel are on a busy street so have early morning noise from rubbish collections et...

Stayed for 3 nights, hotel situated across the road from the Empire State Building and round the corner from Macy's and Madison Square Garden what more could you ask for a taste of NYC?
The bedroom and en- suite were clean and comfortable. We didn't hang out in the hotel much, it was more of a place to stop and drop after a hard day sight seeing.
The buffet breakfast was welcome fuel to get you going before your day out and about.
The staff were efficient.
The best feature of the hotel is the roof bar, which although closed for drinks when we visited, was still open for fresh air and fantastic views.
Would I return? Definitely, it's not 5* but for the amount of time we spent in it, we really didn't feel we missed out on anything during our stay at the Hotel Metro.
