My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Metro as the first stop on our honeymoon in the US, from the UK. We arrived at around 11.30pm in a taxi from JFK, and were able to check in really quickly with a lovely friendly guy on reception.
We arrived to a lovely bottle of rose sparking wine in an Ice bucket and a card from the hotel staff congratulating us on our marriage and wishing us a happy honeymoon, which was a lovely touch after a long journey.

The rooms are fairly small, but not cramped. Our Virgin rep recommended the hotel to us as she said it's quite boutiquey, and I'd agree with this. The room and bathroom were both quite plush, and the free coke in the fridge was a very welcome extra in a very hot New York! The air con was a life saver too!

The complimentary breakfast was lovely; a nice relaxed dining room and lots of options - several cereals, fruit, yoghurt, bagels, toast and muffins, with butter, jam and cream cheese. Really lovely quality and we enjoyed our breakfast each day. In fact staying at the doubletree Hilton in Washington a few days later we both notes that their continental breakfast (not complimentary) wasn't nearly as nice as the Metro!
We'd definitely stay at the metro again; it's in a really central location - you can see Macy's at the end of the street, and the subway is no more than a 30 second walk away. And it's quality hotel, without the attitude and pretence of the Waldorf Astoria where we stayed last time, and hated.
Also the staff are an asset to the hotel, the door guy and concierge gave us excellent tips on where to eat, theatre tickets and where to visit during our stay, and they are so genuinely welcoming, we were really impressed with this.

Friendly staff, small bedroom, but clean nicely situated to visit the city. A good value for money.

Great view of the Empire State just a share about the terrace, it's dated and not really designed for conversation or long stays. Hard metal chairs don't make you want to sit and lounge away the evening. You can smoke on the terrace so a bonus but don't go at the opening time as they were not set up when we arrived and it was a good 30 mins before we could get a drink. Overall not a bad place but there are many other in New York with much better views, service and atmosphere

Stayed for 3 nights in July at The Metro Hotel. Brilliant location for all the sights. Travelled in from Newark Airport and the NJ Transit is very easy but the exit from Penn Station is not too straightforward! Would recommend exit either via main Penn Train station exit or if you can use 35th and Herald Square as the hotel is just there - however quite a few stairs which are tricky with luggage! The hotel facilities are great-the breakfast a real bonus! All the staff very friendly and helpful but special thanks to Glenn the doorman who gave us great advice on where to eat!! Would stay here again without question. If you are going - enjoy!

I stayed in the Metro for 4 nights in at the start of July. Its a nice central hotel, 2 mins, if that, from Macy's Department store.

The staff are lovely and really helpful and the rooms are nice. The rooftop terrace is beautiful, with an amazing view of the Empire State building. I didn't realise that it had one until I had arrived. Its that nice that I have asked if I could have my wedding ceremony up there.

I ate in the Metro Grill a few times and really enjoyed my meals. I will definitely be looking to stay in the Hotel Metro again.

We stayed at Hotel Metro for two nights and we enjoyed the full length of our stay. Located near the Macys and Empire State Building, Hotel Metro is the perfect place to say in Midtown. It's clean, affordable and includes a bagel/muffin breakfast (no meats or eggs). The staff kept our luggage for us on our last day which was super convenient. We parked in the garage less than a block away and got a discount since we were hotel guests (we paid $54 for two days). We would highly recommend this place!

Just came back from a 4 night stay here.Perfect location to get everywhere we walked to all the main attractions no problem. The complimentary breakfast sold this Hotel to us and it was great to start the busy day ahead.Lots of choice for a continental breakfast and I could see you could also pay for a cooked breakfast if u wanted. The terrace and the view of the Empire State was lovely especially for a little drink in the night time.Concierge was so helpful more so than the front desk and recommend a lovely Thai restaurant called pure was amazing honestly the best meal I had in ages! It was on 9th avenue where there was also lots of other restaurants a bit cheaper than 5th and 7th.This restaurant was on 51st street honestly anyone in to Thai food I would highly recommend this! The room was quite basic wasn't anything special but was so convenient and the bed was so comfortable we had the best sleep every night.Would stay here again!
