I fully support Geoffers1817 comments as we were the friends he travelled with!
We can only add that our room was also on 7th floor but smaller and with no view, every thing else he says is right on the button.
Entry to Central Park is opposite the hotel (via quite a lot of steps) level access is about 100 yards further up the road.
Take note that although the subway is close, if you have difficulty walking or climbing stairs New York subways are NOT mobility friendly. All stations I encountered during a three day visit had at least twenty steps.
My wife and I were pleasantly surprised at the standard of cleanliness and service at this bargain priced hotel.

I booked this hotel as a cheap option through Hotwire for my trip to New York City.Positioned near the north end of Central Park close to 103rd St. subway. Our room on 7th floor overlooked the park and had a very comfortable king sized bed. Very friendly and helpful staff present throughout the 3 night stay. Clean room with sheets and towels changed every day. Nice bathroom with shampoo, soap, and body lotions replaced as required. Small, 6 person, lift servicing 11 floors could mean a bit of a delay at busy periods. Nice deli with free wifi was only a block away for breakfast, and restaurants were about 5 minutes walk away. Close proximity to subway meant travel to central Manhattan was very easy. My wife and I were very happy with the hotel at a bargain price for this otherwise expensive city.

Good hotel for the price paid! Do not expect luxury. It is a clean and very convenient situated hotel. View on the Central Park. Walking distance Times Square app 30min, by metro 5min. Friendly and great service by the porters! Tip: coffeeshop on the corner, free wifi, good for breakfast, owned by kind turkish people! For NYC the price and location are very good!

After having booked our stay via Hotwire at an excellent price, we were weary that the hotel might fall short of our expectations. Upon arrival, however, we were thoroughly impressed with both the location and the quality of the hotel. With the exception of some insulation issues in one of the windows - which might have been a problem in the cold winter but was only a mild annoyance for us at twenty-odd degrees -, the room met every one of our standards: the bed was comfortable, sheets clean (no sign of bedbugs anywhere); a good, renovated bathroom with independent heating and hot water that worked every time; helpful and friendly 24-hour staff; some convenient vending machines beneath the lobby for when we wanted to get a bite but were too tired to go out; nice location on the park, somewhere in between the residential Upper West Side and Morningside Heights - great for a stroll around Columbia University and some beautiful (and massive) churches -, and; two subway stations closeby that will get you downtown in circa 10 minutes (go for the 7 or 30 day tourist Metrocards that cost a standard $30 or $112, respectively, for unlimited rides). For a twentysomething-year-old couple that's stayed in pretty much every type of budget hotel and hostel avaliable, this one is definetly a keeper!

Room Tip: We had heard that the elevator was slow, but got second floor room 207 and took the stairs pretty much every time. Higher floors probably have a great view of the park, but our second story vista wasn't too bad either. The turkish deli down the block has free high-speed internet and a delicious cream cheese & tomado bagel - plus they're very friendly and love the business that the hotel brings in. Countless deli's on Columbus, Amsterdam and Broadway, with a myriad of snack options at a good price - great price if you consider it's New York!

Got a great deal at this hotel but was concerned about the poor reviews. Need not have worried.
Room was small but had the 2 beds we had requested which were very comfortable and clean as was the bathroom. Lots of clean towels, toiletries and hot water. Pleasant helpful staff. Not luxury but fine for a place to sleep. A way out of the main areas but got Great value breakfast from the Deli a block down and close to the subway. After dark as 2 females we felt safer on the M10 bus which stops right outside.
Great location for central park and our early morning runs.

Room Tip: Lift is slow so don't go too far up so you can use the stairs. Ask for a view of the park
