We had a great time here. We typically only go back to hotels to rest our feet and sleep. Because the lobby is very grand we decided to stop by the bar. They have very good margaritas and strong. There is a subway station right across the street so that was really great. It was nice just staying in a hotel with so much history and the price is very reasonable. The only bad thing was all the elevators were not running and so it took a while to get from the lobby to our floor but it did help instead of walking up the stairs to the lobby if you walk to the elevators on the ground floor next to the salon.

Thank you for your comments and wonderful review. Great tip regarding the elevators. Most guests dont realize they can by-pass the lobby and take the elevators to our arcade/shops which is street level. Thanks again for your valuable feedback and we look forward to your next visit.

The hotel has a classic lobby and decor. The staff members are friendly and helpful. We stayed in a basic room. It was small, but clean and neat. The bar just off the lobby is a fun and vibrant spot after 10pm. The rooftop bar is an indoor/outdoor area with a view of the city. Drinks are around $14 per drink. But that's the average around town for liquor and wine. It was easy to catch a cab from the front of the hotel. The hotel is in the middle of all the major attractions. Central Park, Grand Central Station, Time's Square, Top of The Rock and The Empire State Building. An easy walk to all of these sites.

Lets get something straight...this is a mid range hotel and not high end nor do they claim they are. Most people with complaints here are probably expecting the Penninsula at mid-range prices. Newsflash...hotels in NYC are expensive! If you are staying here, even for $250-300/night you are still paying for a mid range hotel. I have stayed here numerous times for business trips and have never experienced anything that was so negative that it would prompt me to waste my time writing a review. Now, I have experienced a room with an old/musty smell...also had a room that was not properly cleaned...but guess what?? I PICKED UP THE PHONE and changed my room! That's all it takes. Their staff is more than helpful and have always resolved any issues for me. The rooms are fine....the beds are comfortable and clean. The location cannot be beat and in my opinion you cant get a better deal. This review is from someone that has stayed here a total of 17 times!

Stayed at this hotel for one night since my normal spots were booked for Fashion Week. The Roosevelt Hotel has a beautiful lobby but the rooms are old. Like really old. Also a few things happened during my brief 9 hour stay:

1) I got two sets of keys that never worked so I was stuck in the hall for 20-30 min dealing with that
2) I called room service 10 min before it closed (so late because I was locked out of my room) and was told service was over. And that I could "go around the corner" if I wanted food. Thanks for that specific restaurant recommendation!
3) when I finally was let into my room, my pillows were in a heap in the middle of the bed, with no pillow cases. Someone brought some up, but kind of threw them at me in their haste to leave.

Other than that, bathrooms kinda skeezy, Internet didn't work and the door (when it would unlock for me) was too tight from warping wood. also perhaps the first AC system ever invented and I couldn't figure out how to adjust it.

No thanks.

The hotel sits on Fifth Avenue and 45th, a great location for those traveling in Manhattan.
Crowded hotel, like a train station, however lovely staff, very good service.
We got a small room, a broken bed and air conditioner noisy, we turned to change the room and was treated instantly. The room was replaced by a larger room, comfortable and most importantly very clean.
On the Hotel roof has a very nice bar, overlooking the city's landscape.
Recommends: to open the morning with a good coffee - out fo the hotel exit 46th Street, on the right there nice cafe, good coffee and a light breakfast, delicious and inexpensive.

Our sincere apologies for any issues you expreienced regarding your first room but we are happy that our friendly staff was able to resolve that issue. After a long day at work, I arrived around 11:00 pm, and the room was not cleaned. I got a rude response a couple of times, and finally the manager gave me a $50 discount. But the room was not cleaned. The room was small (18 floor), it could have used a vacum, and the corridors were filthy, I saw the same used cups by a room for two days in a row. Although it is well located, I will avoid this hotel in the future.

Payed $260 for a double room that was smaller than a closet, air conditioner blew out humid air, curtains were dirty and falling off the hook, lumpy covers, room smelled stale and moldy, bathroom only had room for maybe one toothbrush on the shelf, had to pay extra to get a small refrigerator in the room, phones not working, safe is so ancient and also did not work, we were just glad we did not end up with bed bugs. We have NEVER stayed at a property so disgusting anywhere in the world, not even a highway motel. Just glad to bolt out of there after one night never to return. The lobby looks grand though!

Room Tip: do not stay at the Roosevelt under any circumstances-irrespective of rate or promotions. any 1-2 st...
