Pubic hair on the towels and floor of the bathroom ! Rude staff, wallpaper peeling, billboards room was not open as the owner was 'in town and like to hang out in there'. Generally worn down rooms. Price of wifi and food is an utter joke 32 dollars for breakfasted per head.

Stayed at the Roosevelt on business. I had no problem with the staff. Check in was quick and easy. Waiting for elevators is another story, but I can understand because it is a large hotel. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable, but the bathroom was very moldy. There was quite a bit of mold in the shower and around the sink. Room service was extremely slow in the evening, but again the hotel is huge so I can somewhat understand why there is such a long wait. Great location! Close to everything.

We spent four nights in June in this 'iconic' hotel. The staff were very friendly but the beds were the worst I've slept in (including on safari in Africa.) The walls allowed the activities of the neighbouring rooms to be heard, with all screams of ecstasy being quite embarrassing. The location of the hotel was brilliant, however the limited number of elevators was a time waster. We'd previously spent a week at The Waldorf Astoria and out of the two tired old dames, I would recommend the Waldorf.
If the owners of the Roosevelt spent some money on the old girl, she'd be the brilliant star she ought to be.

Room Tip: Perhaps check to see if any roadworks are scheduled for the time you stay. The hotel could not help...

We were supposed to have been given a queen-sized bed, but it was a double in any other hotel/motel. We know because we have been in motels from Maine to California and from China to Iceland. The management triied to say queen-sized beds come in 3 sizes and this was their "queen-sized." After 5 tries Carlos gave us a room with a king-sized bed. All else was very good so if bed-size is not a problem you will be happy.

Room Tip: Check bed-size if important to you.

Sadly this is a hotel recommended by my employer. Old is one thing, musty and small, old smokey rooms or missing toiletries are another. But this place wreaks of mold! Oddly enough, there appears to be new hallway carpeting; similarly the room I had seemed to have new carpet. And there are plenty of electric plugs which I always feel are lacking universally in hotel rooms! But all in all, this hotel has passed it's used by date and it would be worth a few extra tens (maybe up to 100!) of dollars to stay elsewhere in the city. Go to the rooftop bar for cocktails, but sleep somewhere else.

I have stayed at hotels in New York since the 1970s, but never the Roosevelt. I was here one night in late June for quickie biz trip. You'll love the location if you like mass transit since Grand Central is literally across the street. The hotel is a bit of an antique in many respects and harkens back the golden era of train train. The rooms were about as expected, small but well furnished. It's a shame they charge for wifi. How 20th century is that?! I found the staff helpful, but overburdened. Check in/check out was too long. Main lobby lounge service was great. I'd be a repeat overnight customer, but only for a great price.

Don't book this hotel! We wanted our 7 year old to experience the New York's glamour of the early 1900 so we book this hotel. The building is beautiful and the location is excellent, but that's it.

First when we arrive no one helped us with our luggage, the bell boys just stared as we pulled the bags through the staircase. When we finally get to the front desk we went through the checkin process relatively fast, so we headed to our room. When the elevator door opened, we could sense a funny smell that was present in all the floor.

The worst part.... our "superior" room. It was outdated, dirty, very small, dark, they were wires hanging out of the tv, and had a lumpy bed. The bathroom had broken tiles and scum was present in all corners. The lamp was almost hanging from the wall. Since we booked a room for 3 people and only got a king bed we asked for a extra bed so they delivered it and left it standing in the doorway, you may wonder why? They left it there because it didn't fit inside the room. So we went to complaint and they told us that we can cancel the reservation after the first night. It was a terrible expensive experience, we pre-pay over $1,000 for 3 nights to stay in a hole.

The managers must be completely idiots... I would have gladly spent $100+ to have room service every morning, but who will like to eat in a small dirty room, right? So we had to go and eat breakfast somewhere else. Don't stay here, the picture of the room they show has nothing to do with the real thing.

Room Tip: Don't stay here, spend $100 more per night and go to The Waldorf.
