La Quinta Inn & Suites Manhattan
Ranked #296 of 469 Hotels in New York City
Reviewed 6 June 2014

We stayed here for 2 nights 14-16 may, and were pleasently suprised with this hotel. The staff is friendly and helpfull, the rooms are small but very cleverly designed. You have room for everything you need in a hotel. Our first room was on a lower level was noisy so we asked to change to a higher level. The next morning our wish was fulfilled. The breakfast is very good for a continental one.
The neighborhood is not so good but it does not affect the stay in this hotel. It is well located in the heart of Manhattan. Good value for it's price.

Room Tip: Ask for a higher floor. Is less noisy from outside and eaven the AC is quiter.

I am a La Quinta member and have enjoyed their hotels for several years now. We had reservations there for three nights from May 22-25 for four of us. The bed does not have a mattress as most of us know. It is a big piece of foam on top of a steel foundation. The bathroom has an exhaust fan but does not work very good. After a shower, the walls are sweating. The thermostat leaves the room either freezing cold or summer hot. The breakfast room is tiny and most of the time for breakfast, is crowded beyond belief . The eggs have NO taste ..the pancakes are hard and cold....No brewed decaf is available. No wonder all new yorkers seem to be "up tight"...The woman sitting at the concierge desk does NOT even know how much the taxi would be to La Guardia....It is located in Korea town and yes it is within walking distance to Times Square. It is two blocks from a subway station and is not too bad to walk as long as you can navigate between all of the garbage bags lined up on the sidewalks

Room Tip: We were on the ninth floor and could hear every noise on the street. Pay a little extra and stay som...

Dear karendebe,
Thank you for your review. We are disappointed and surprised that you did not enjoy your stay. The majority of our guests have a very good night’s sleep on our memory foam mattresses. We’re sorry you were not happy with the breakfast either, but will take note of what you mentioned. We try to provide lots of variety and good quality items and we continually reevaluate our offerings to see where improvements can be made. In fact, we just completed a multi-million dollar renovation of the entire hotel including the lobby which was designed by the accomplished New York designer, Jessica Shaw.
The taxi fare to La Guardia is not a set rate; rather it is metered like almost anywhere else in the city. So the rate can vary greatly depending on the traffic and she did not want to give you wrong information. However, taxi fares to JFK are set at a fixed rate of $52 plus tolls.
Unfortunately, we have no control over the garbage bags on the sidewalk from other businesses.
We do apologize for any inconveniences you faced during your stay. We hope you will give us another chance in the future.

My husband and i stayed here on our trip to get married in NYC. This hotel has everything, amazing breakfast, the best beds, views of the Empire State Building and easy access to food and shopping. The subway station is a short 5 minute walk away from the door. We stayed on the top floor and it was incredible to experience the rooftop bar at night and then stumble into our rooms a few short steps. The staff was incredibly nice and the price for a NYC hotel is amazing and worth it. Don't let the name of this place fool you, it is a one-of-a-kind hotel!!!!!

Room Tip: Explore rooms on the top floor. The views alone are worth it!

We booked a double queen room for 3 people and we were warned that NYC hotels were very small. We were pleasantly surprised to have plenty of space as well as a loveseat. The rooms were very clean and staff were all pleasant. Breakfast was sufficient to get the day started. Great location for walking tours or catching the subway. Would definitely stay again.

We recently spent two nights at this hotel. Yes the room was small and the elevator slow at times but it was clean, has a great location and reasonable prices. We had no problems with the staff. The only negative was breakfast wasn't very good and there was no half & half or whole milk available for coffee or cereal. Our second day there we opted for the French bakery down the street for coffee and pastry.
Would stay here again when we come to New York and recommend it to others

This hotel is a typical La Quinta. The location is good and if you are not facing the street (we were) not too noisy. The street side was rather noisy but not unbearable. The only downside is the scarcity of taxi's at night. The hotel will not or can not call a cab for you, so plan on walking up a few blocks to where there are more cabs. Nice restaurants within walking distance.

I recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask if there are rooms available not street side.Fairly long elevator waits so get a low floor so yo...

This is what I call a conveninetly located, user friendly hotel. It's not fancy, but it'll give you the regular room with the regular ammenities, not a whole lot of space at all, but that's a Manhattan standard for this price range. It's clean, it's only relatively noisy if you're in a room facing the street, and you'll get a free breakfast, not fancy but some food to start your day. I think this hotel is pretty convenient and fairly priced if your plan for NYC is to be out and about all day, and use the room just to crash at night. The one real drawback for me was the outdated and old fashioned AC, which is noisy to boot and then some -- good thing we didn't need it much.

Room Tip: Probably best to ask for an interior room if you're a light sleeper. A street facing room may be...

Dear evilalta,
Thank you for your review. We hope you had a great time exploring all that New York City has to offer. We apologize for the noisy air conditioner. We check all in-room aspects including air-conditioners to make sure they are in perfect working order and replace any that are defective as we will in the room you occupied. As you mentioned, we do keep our rates pretty competitive. We also offer the best value for a hotel because we offer amenities like free breakfast, WIFI, and domestic phone calls, which isn’t something you’ll find in all Manhattan hotels.
We hope you will visit us again soon!
