“Affordable accommodate at prime location”
Reviewed 16 July 2014

La Quinta Inn Manhattan located in the Koreatown which is very convenient. We only travelled with backpack and carry-on luggage, so we took the LIRR from Jamaica Center to Penn Station and then walk 15 minutes to the hotel. 34St-Herald Station is just around the corner with subway trains that take us to the Central Park and Time Square. We even walked back to the hotel from Time Square and from Chelsea. Macy's, H&M, Empire State Building are just behind us on 34th St.

Front desk staff are very helpful and welcoming. We were greeted by the staff in the hallway and at the entrance. Our room was clean. The lobby and breakfast area are modern and comfortable. We asked the cleaning staff not to clean our room on the second day and she even asked if we need any toilet supplies.

I have to agree with some contributors about the elevator wait especially during breakfast hours and evening when the pub opens at 5pm.

If you are AAA member, make sure to book with your special rate. The room rate that we paid is relatively less than the hotels in the same area. With free breakfast, free WIFI and central location, it is definitely a steal.

Room Tip: We heard car honking from our room at around 1am and after. If you are a light sleeper, ask for a ro...

Have just left here after a 3 day stay. Cannot fault the hotel in anyway. Had a huge room on the second floor, 2 queen beds with plenty of extra room to move around. Nicely updated with a big closet and great bathroom. Hotel is in Korea Town and close to everything. Great location. Tom at the front desk was wonderful. Breakfast was good. Beautiful view from the rooftop bar. I would definitely recommend La Quinta Manhattan to anyone coming to the city, great price and again AWESOME!!!

This was our first time visiting New York, and although we didn't have any trouble getting to where we thought the hotel was, it was a little hard to find because of the size and location of sign. Then parking was another adventure-as there is none downtown. The parking garage was across the street before the hotel, and of course everything goes one way. The hotel was very nice, staff were very helpful and friendly. Room was nice and clean. Very conveniently located to everything! We stayed two nights and it was perfect for what we had planned on this part of our trip.

I only stayed here one night. The person that checked us in was rude. Our room was so small you had to open your suitcases on the bed. OK for a cheap place to stay. It had a rooftop bar that had a nice view. It was crowded, loud and difficult to find a place to sit but had a nice view. The breakfast was not very appetizing. Our room was by the ice machine. The people in our hallway was using the machine and partying in the hallway until 4 am.

Room Tip: Noisy place too stay Rooms too small

Dear 871Louise,
Thank you for your review. We’re sorry you were not pleased with your stay. Our front desk staff is trained to be as friendly and helpful as possible and we will continue to work with them on making our guests feel more welcome. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by noisy guests. We encourage guests to report noise/partying to the front desk so that we can work to resolve the issue.
We are certainly more than just a cheap place to stay in the city. We provide an excellent value for our guests by including free breakfast, wi-fi, and domestic phone calls, which isn’t something you will see in all Manhattan hotel rooms. We hope you will reconsider us for your next visit to New York City.

My daughter and I spent her 16th birthday in the city in July. The hotel was a joy from the minute we checked in till we picked up our luggage hours after we checked out. We only stayed one Saturday night.

Tom and Shabir who we mostly dealt with were very friendly, courteous and professional. The lobby was blessedly cool and comfortable on a very hot day. It was very sleek and modern with plenty of nice seating. The check-in process was easy and the staff called upstairs soon after we got settled to make sure everything was good and that we wanted the extra cot we had ordered. I do suspect that this was a handicapped accessible room #1208 and that's why it was pretty large by NYC standards (also why the closet bar was so low and bathroom large etc.) this room was near the elevators so a smidge noisy but not bad really. There was plenty of storage space and hangers in the room, lots of plugs and charging options plus an iPod dock on the clock, the furniture was solid (not cheap), nice flat screen, the free Wi-Fi was strong, the bed was VERY comfortable and the AC in room worked well (kept a couple of drinks on the vent to keep them cold and it worked perfect) The bathroom was large and showerhead adjustable and had really good water pressure and stayed hot.

The included breakfast was very good and included waffles, boiled eggs, cereal, bagels, muffins, bread, yogurt, fruit etc. and of course coffee and juices. There was plenty of seating in the breakfast room as well.

The only Con I can think of are that the two small elevators were a little crowded and busy during peak hours - they only hold 6-8 people depending on luggage and the wait can get a little long.

My wife and I stayed at this La Quinta a few years ago and found it rather rundown. It has had a facelift and looks much better. The lobby is small but appealing and the rooms were comfortable and updated. Of course the rooms are small but not unusual for New York City. There are only two elevators and there are times there are lines so you have to be somewhat strategic about when you come and go. There's a small exercise room that seemed to be popular enough. The dining area is again somewhat limited but they seem to have done a lot with the space. The breakfast itself is standard La Quinta but certainly good enough.
The neighborhood can be quite noisy. Once again, you are in Midtown and everything is noisy. Trash can be picked up in the middle of the night and the partiers get somewhat rowdy very late. However, it is quite convenient to Penn Station and only about a block from the nearest subway. Koreatown is a little different but I think that adds to the experience.
The biggest change from when I was at this hotel years ago was the addition of a rooftop bar. You basically sit down with the Empire State building hovering over you. It is quite a view and worth a peek even if you are not going to have a drink or two up there. We found that the bar was dominated later on by twentysomethings, many from Koreatown, so that unless anyone else is going up there early or on a quiet evening, it really is not very available. Still worth checking out.
We paid just around $200 a night. That seemed to be a pretty good value to me given location and the quality of the hotel itself.

Room Tip: Consider lower floors to beat the elevator congestion.

Its centrally located, Times Square only half a mile away, Empire state basically behind the hotel, and Macy's and Victoria's secret round the corner (for you shoppers).

AC works but sadly it was located next to one of our beds and was pretty much either off or full on (despite the controls) so you could not really leave it on for night or one of us would have gotten cold. So it would get bit hot during the night. But this was with 3 people in the room (single bed next to it) so may not be a prob with 2 people.

Room was clean, no creepy crawlies. Though the mattress was tad icky and old. Room was cleaned every day and the cleaners were very nice and smiling :) Bring ear plugs 'cause around 4 or 5 am there will be plenty of noice from outside.

Breakfast nothing special but if white bread and cereal are good enough for you, you will do fine. Big minus about using plastic forks and plates etc. There is enough space though.

One thing that troubled me was the fact that in the queen bed there was only one big blanket. I do not want to share my blanket with people, not with a spouse or a friend. Its so strange! I asked for another and it was a problem for some reason. I did get one but there were no covers on it! So eventually I slept with a sheet on.
