“Billing Issue and No Follow-up.....BUT, good stay overall”
Reviewed 7 August 2014

My wife and I visited New York and stayed in this hotel. It is located right in the heart of Manhattan, which was great! The room was very tight, but we were out and about much of our trip, so that was fine. The hotel was very clean and well maintained. However, we had a billing issue that got directed to the General Manager, Victor. He was supposed to follow up with us by July 28th (over a week after checkout), but did not. I have also called him and left multiple voicemails and have not received a return call from him. Very frustrating. Would really like to get closure to this issue. Also the breakfast, while free, is not the best.....my advice is to stick to the bagels, don't try the eggs! The rooftop bar is a very cool place to end the night.

Dear Chris W,
Thank you for your review. We’re glad you enjoyed your stay with us. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience you faced in regards to billing. We have looked into the case and it seems as if you had changed your arrival date. When this was done the agent you spoke with canceled the original reservation and rebooked you for 1 person incorrectly, instead of two. We charge an extra $15 for a second person in the room. We have responded to your messages through LQ Guest Assistance in this matter. Also, since the error was made on La Quinta Guest Assistance’s part, you must continue to try to resolve it with them. We do sincerely apologize for any inconvenience.
We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you again in the future.

I used to live in NYC and now travel there several times a year to visit the office. I always stay in this hotel. It is, hands down, the best option. It is very centrally located, clean and well done, and - most importantly - super cheap (comparatively). The rooftop bar is pretty interesting, too, with a direct view of the Empire State Building just above it - however it is quite small and gets crowded.

Was looking for a budget-hotel in the heart of Manhattan (yes, I know). Stumbled across this hotel at the last minute after having reserved at a very shady-sounding place one very small step up from a hostel. The La Quinta was by far the cheapest midtown Manhattan I could find and we were completely surprised at how great the place was despite the unusually low price($240/night, two queen beds - actually slightly cheaper than the scary place I had already booked). Highly recommended in every way. In the middle of midtown, 8 blocks from Times Square and the theater district, fantastic view of the Empire State Building from the rooftop bar and less than one block from the subway. Unless you want to spend $400+ per night, don't stay anywhere else!

Room Tip: Admittedly the early morning street noise level was a bit of a nuisance, but I think this would be r...

I booked for an entire week from 14-21 feb. After a few bad experiences in the city I booked in advance.i wasn't disappointed. Centrally located. Many great restaurants & eateries around.Cute rooms. Clean. Good service. Great location. With breakfast it's a great deal. My tip, try to book a room on the inside, the streets could get noisy.

Location is superb, less than 200meters from subway with a couple of metro lines to choose from; best way to move around the city. It's in Koreatown hence korean food all over the street.

Room and bathroom size is adequate for 2 people. The hotel offers breakfast which can really brighten up your day and lead to a good start before doing all day sightseeing.

Aside from food shops, it's walking distance to Macy's and other stores thus a haven for shopping.

The area in itself is a bit crowded but it's something you will be able to tolerate.

This hotel is really worth the money.

My husband must have said "this hotel was a great find!" 10 times on this trip. I have to admit its because we are La Quinta Returns members that I searched for and found this hotel and I'm so glad I did. About $200/night in mid-town in the middle of summer .. I thought that was pretty reasonable. Walked to hotel from Penn Station (maybe 10 - 15 min pulling luggage) easy to get turned around so map your walk before you starting walking in circles. (took taxi back on last day .. about $6)

Had 6 family members traveling together .. two rooms down the hall from one another. When I booked I knew we would have one double and one king as that was all that was available (which was fine) we had planned to put a roll-away in the king room with us. Just FYI it's $25 extra for a roll-away. (it's NYC - everything is extra) We opted to put 4 and 2 so it worked out for us that way BUT one surprise was the person per room upcharge. If you have a king room they charge for a second person in that room and if you have a double they charge extra for the third and fourth people in the room. Again .. not a huge deal but a surprise at check in. Rooms were clean, comfortable. Bathroom pretty small but not the smallest I've ever seen!

Check in was quick and easy. Front desk personnel were efficient, not warm and fuzzy, but nice enough. They were very helpful holding all our luggage day of arrival and check out so we could sight see. We had two days and one night to see as much as we could (couple of people in our group hadn't been to NYC before) Elevators seems to be slow but the bell man came over promptly and helped everyone waiting to get on.

After getting to our room my niece realized she thought she left her phone case / wallet in the lobby. Before we could even leave the room to check the manager called to make sure all was good with our rooms and I asked about the phone case. He said it was found and waiting at the front desk. Great service! We were on the 3rd floor so had some lights from outside coming thru curtains (was so tired it didn't matter) and some street noise (expected) bring earplugs if that bothers you.. nothing LaQ could do about it.

Easy walk to Empire State building, subway and Greenly park. Vu bar on 14th floor was very busy but we did snag a table after standing a few minutes. Drinks were awesome (mojito.. YUM!) .. view of Empire State Building was FANTASTIC. This hotel is in the heart of K-town and very close to Manhattan Mall.

Breakfast had regular LaQ breakfast type items .. cereal, waffles, apples, bananas .. was hoping for a muffin or bagel to grab and go. Just skipped and waited for lunch. Had a hotdog from corner vendor (skip corner vendors pretzels .. tasted TERRIBLE!)

Would not think twice about returning to this hotel .. overall great NYC experience!

Room Tip: This is NOT 100% non smoking hotel. If you want non-smoking you have to request it when you book and...

My hubby and I stayed in La Quinta for 3 nights in June before travelling to Boston and Cape Cod. We have both been to NY before but not together. La Quinta was a well priced hotel in a good area. We were a short walk to everywhere and the subway was at the end of the street. The hotel is really modern and trendy inside. The bedroom was quite small but very clean and well equiped, the bed was really really comfy. The breakfast was a little busy but satisfactory
