“Good experience”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 November 2013

The Main Street Grill is a breakfast and lunch spot with a welcoming atmosphere and a hometown feel. You can choose to eat at the counter or at tables along the side. The service was good, with fresh coffee refilled frequently. We ordered eggs and potatoes -- hash browns for me, home fries for him -- and found everything to be pretty much as we expected. Portions were large. We would go back.

Cedar City is not known for its eating establishments. Although there is a very cute historic downtown strip, there was not a lot in the way of great food experiences. There are several chain restaurants by the highway.

We were happy to have found the Main Street Grill and recommend it as a place to have a comfortable, home-cooked kind of meal.

“Low quality food--worst we've tried in Cedar City”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 September 2013

My husband and I have been pretty stunned at the positive reviews that many of the Cedar City restaurants received, as every last one we went to was terribly disappointing. Main St. Grill is no exception...in fact, it was probably the worst meal we had in Cedar City, out of a litany of bad meals. We stopped here on Labor Day--apparently most places in Cedar City close on such holidays, and it left us with very little choice for dining that day. Main St. Grill was one of the few that remained open. The restaurant closes at 2pm, and we arrived at 1:30, and I got the vibe from the waitress that greeted us that she was kinda hoping not to have any new guests. She was polite without being friendly, and didn't check on us all too frequently. My husband asked about the soup of the day, and was told, "We didn't make it today--we got too busy and didn't get the chance." Seriously? That's something you're supposed to do BEFORE the restaurant opens.

I realized that it was the end of a holiday workday in which these ladies may have just simply wanted to get home, and we might've just caught them on an off day, but even the food quality was a horrible disappointment--more disappointing than the service--as the restaurant appears to go "on the cheap" for all its food items. Since they didn't appear to have regular sandwiches (only grilled ones), I chose to have a breakfast: eggs, hash browns, sausage links, toast, and oj. You would think, just what could one do to a simple meal like that to ruin it? Well, the sausage links just didnt taste good, like they were cheap sausage links made with lots of fillers. The toast came coated with a yellowish oil that most definitely was NOT butter or even margarine. And the OJ honestly tasted like the kind of cheap orange juice concentrate that you buy by the plastic gallon. My husband ordered turkey sandwich. He reported that the shredded cheese was an imitation cheese product, and the turkey, although not spoiled, did have that "old poultry" taste.

If you find yourself in Cedar City and are looking for a decent breakfast, try the Great Harvest Baking Co across the street from Main St Grill. I did NOT try their food, as they were closed on this particular Monday, but they ARE a chain restaurant that I've heard great things about, and though I usually don't recommend chain restaurants over the little guys EVER, I will do that for anyone spending time in Cedar City. The locals delivered highly disappointing food at every location we went to during our stay here, with Main St. Grill being the worst of them all.

“breakfast”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 July 2013

The breakfast was ok. The restaurants was clean and had a real locals feel. We felt confortable there but it is not a modern designed place. The owner was very nice and we will be eating there again.

“Great place for breakfast and lunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 July 2013

We ate here several times during our week in Cedar City. The food is freshly prepared, the atmosphere is pleasant, service is good (though slows a bit when very busy, but not a problem). There's a pretty good variety of standard menu items. Recommended when you are in the area.

“Fresh well prepared food”

Although choices were somewhat limited all the traditional choices were available. The food was fresh and well prepared in a family atmosphere.
