They have a great breakfast with hot items in a building behind the hotel. The staff are nice and very helpful. The rooms are old anddated. It is close to the freeway and fast food. It is not close the the fetivals or the college.

Thank you for reviewing our hotel. We are very pleased that you enjoyed the breakfast and that the staff took good care of you. We are sorry to hear that you did not like the guest rooms. However, we are surprised that you found them to be old and dated. All of the rooms have just received brand new furniture within the last few months, each has a flat screen TV, and we receive a lot of compliments for our room design. Understandably, some prefer a more contemporary style, and our rooms definitely lean toward traditional.

We are also surprised that you said we are not close the the university. The Abbey Inn is only two blocks north of the campus (specifically the SUU Centrum and sporting facilities). Clearly, you were visiting the Shakespeare Festival which is on the far east side of campus and therefore about six blocks east of us. It is definitely within walking distance, but we suggest that our guests drive to the plays because they get out after dark, and parking is free and plentiful. Admittedly, we are not the closest hotel to the festival, but we are certainly in the top three closest, and we are the closest to any SUU sporting event.

We do hope that you will come back and see us when you come to the Festival. Thank you again for sharing your experience at the Abbey Inn.

My husband and I stayed at the Abbey Inn last night. I had a coupon from a hotel coupon book that advertised a weekend rate of $69 plus tax; the desk clerk refused to honor it, saying, "We don't have any of those rooms left."

We were too tired to quibble, so we paid $99 pre-tax for a room that was admittedly spotlessly clean and nicely-decorated--but not unusually spacious--with two queen beds. There was no road noise and the beds were good. (We didn't get up early enough to try out their breakfast.)

I guess my question would be, how is the room I would've gotten WITH the coupon any different from the one I paid an additional $30 for? Presumably they would've both had a bed to sleep in and a bathroom. It wasn't as if the extra $30 got us a sitting area or an in-room spa tub!

Overall, the rooms were very nice. But it is what it is--a motel with outside room entrances . Not worth the $99 we paid. But I'd go back here in the off-season and pay the coupon rate without complaint.

Room Tip: A word of warning--if you don't like cigarette smoke or people talking into the wee hours, don't get a room near the middle of the hotel on the second floor. There, people congregate in the balcony chairs and smoke their cigarettes. (We're talking 11-11:30 p.m.) We couldn't turn on the air as we would've liked because it would pull cigarette smoke into our room. Finally, the smokers/talkers decided to go to bed, and so did we.

Thank you for staying with us and for reviewing our hotel. As you mentioned, we do advertise a coupon rate which is a great deal. We do honor the coupon, but as with any coupon or special offer, there are restrictions. Printed on the coupon, it says that it is based upon availability, and it is not valid during holidays or special events. The reason why our clerk said we were sold out of those rooms is because that rate was no longer available due to our property selling out.

To answer your question, there is no difference between our standard rooms and coupon rooms. They are the same size, have the same amenities, and are the same quality. This is what makes the coupon a really great deal. The difference lies in the date of your stay which was a very busy weekend for us. I apologize for any confusion in this matter.

Our rates do fluctuate with the seasons and local events, but I can assure you that they are competitive with comparable hotels in Cedar City. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed the stay, and hope to see you again in the future. Please be sure to check with us on the coupons, and we will help you find a better date to stay. Thank you for taking the time to share.

We're on a 7500 mile, 40 day trip from VA to AZ and then up to MT and return and the Abbey Inn in Cedar City UT was the best room and best value on the entire trip. If you're close stay there, you won't be disappointed.

Room was great, people nice. The indoor pool is great for the kids but the surrounding area could use a little power washing, kinda dirty. Other than the pool, the room was great. Beds were clean, mattresses were decent, certainly for the money. Would stay there again.

Thank you for sharing your experience at the Abbey Inn. We are very happy that you enjoyed the rooms and the pool but apologize for the surrounding area. Our goal is to provide an excellent product with exceptional service, and our guests' comments help us to know where we need to improve. Fortunately, we have a reprieve after our summer season to address such items. The pool deck has recently been resurfaced, and we are working to update the entire pool area. Thank you for staying with us, and we hope to see you again soon.
