“Ok, but compare”
Reviewed 21 September 2013

This hotel had some great reviews which prompted us to check out their web site. It looked very promising with flar screen TV's etc. the reservation staff was pleasant but they appeared full but they found a two bedroom room. When we arrived we were directed to a house next to the property that was in the basement of a home. It was clean but with old TV's very tight bathroom and bedrooms. The breakfast area was packed and tight. The staff was nice but I would not stay there again. They were deceptive in saying they were full but even the parking lot was nearly empty and the house was empty on top.

Room Tip: Ask specifics about room and amenities be specific.

Thank you for staying at the Abbey Inn and for sharing your experience with us. We are disappointed that your stay was not what you were expecting. It appears that you stayed with us on a sold out night (the parking lot was not yet full because our other guests had probably not arrived or were out enjoying their activities). When we are sold out of our regular rooms, our clerks do offer some house rentals that are behind our main property. They work really well for large groups that do not want to pay a premium for a lot rooms, but they seem unusual for a couple expecting a standard hotel room. They aren't as newly remodeled, they do not have the flat screen TV's, and the WI-FI signal is not as strong. However, it does come with the breakfast, the pool, and more space than a standard hotel room. We hope that you can come back and stay in a regular hotel room because we are certain that you would enjoy it. Please give us the opportunity in the future to live up to our #1 rating. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to reply.

I-15 close, but not close enough to be noisy. Front street not a problem because no rooms face it. East side was being painted so only I-15 side available but did not hear traffic. Room comfortable and clean, but would recommend a 2nd floor room because cars park facing the rooms and late arrivals may shine lights in. Ice maker, soda machine, and elevator isolated so not a noise problem (ever get the impression that noise is an issue with me?). Dining close by.

The biggest issue is that the room A/C is quite noisy. One solution would be to crank it to coldest when you get there then turn it off when you go to bed.

There are two pleasant surprises: The hot spa and the swimming pool are very nice, in a separate building, as is the breakfast area in another building, which is large, very pleasant, and well stocked with about everything you would want and staffed by nice ladies catering to you whims.

Very good value and my place to stay next time thru

Room Tip: Second floor recommended

Thank you so much for staying at the Abbey Inn and for sharing your experience with others. Concerns over noise are very common with people who stay in hotels often, and we are happy to hear that you weren't disturbed by any traffic, the elevator, or ice machines. We are sorry to hear that the AC was a bit noisy. It is nice for our guests to have the AC in-room where they can control the temperature, but some people do not enjoy sleeping near the unit. Perhaps your suggestion would work well for our light sleepers. Otherwise, we may need to look at the specific unit and see if repairs need to be done. We appreciate when our guests let us know of these problems so we can fix them. Thank you for mentioning the pool, the breakfast, and the staff. We hope to see you again soon.

We were in Cedar for the half marathon and the Inn was a straight shot from the park. The room was very nice and the bed was comfortable. They must use soft water, which I enjoyed. My skin didn't feel dried out like it does after showering at most hotels. The staff was friendly and accommodating. They allowed us a late check-out so that my husband could come back and shower after the run. I would definitely stay here again.

Stop-over for one night en-route to Salt Lake. Good welcome from helpful staff on front desk including map of recommended restaurants. Spacious room, everything working, pleasant decor. Included breakfast was fine and set us up for the long drive.

This place was great. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms very nicely furnished. Staff was friendly and perfect in every way. I've paid twice as much and gotten a whole lot less.

The hot full breakfast prepared by the ladies in the little house behind the motel was a highlight of the trip.

It is so good to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us! Thank you for the kind words. A few months ago we finished a major renovation in 3/4 of our rooms at our motel and are finishing the remaining rooms this fall. We have replaced the furniture, carpet, wallpaper, and complete bathroom remodel. Our staff works really hard to provide superior customer service. Thank you so much for staying with us and we look forward to seeing you again next time you are in the Cedar City area.

A/C malfunctioned around 1:00 am. Mentioned problem when checking out, Madison at front desk was flippant and dismissive. She condescendingly advised that I should have called for maintenance to fix the A/C at that time. Explained to Madison that I was exhausted and the last thing I wanted to do at 1:00 am was to make this request. Madison made no apology nor offered to make it right, didn't take responsibility, was rude and unprofessional.
After a few minutes of discussion with Madison, a $10 credit was offered but it came with a price. She didn't know how to credit my credit card so she asked the Manager on the floor for help. The Manager in the back office shouted instructions to Madison at the front desk. Manager lacked the professional courtesy to make herself present to address the issue. At that point, everything was so poorly handled that I walked out feeling upset and regretful for staying there. No credit given.
Too many other hotel choices to book in the future. I travel through Cedar 2-3 times per year, Abbey Inn lost a good customer.

We stayed here for one night this past weekend, as we took in a few shows at the wonderful Shakespearean Festival. We have stayed here in the past, and noticed that our room this time was getting slightly "tired". We also thought that the room seemed cluttered with unnecessary furniture (specifically a large bar piece). The room also lacked a nightstand on one side of the bed. Overall, it was clean, and the bed was quite comfortable. The front desk staff was also quite polite. The morning buffet was adequate.

Thank you for staying at the Abbey Inn and for sharing your experience. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay for the most part. Once our renovation is completed, we expect that all of our rooms will be fresh and welcoming. Please come back and stay with us again. We should be able to offer a different room (not all of them have the extra furniture items).
