“Abbey Inn really works hard to be the best motel in town”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 September 2010

I had stayed at the Abbey Inn some years ago and enjoyed my stay. However, this time I was pleasantly surprised at completely remodeled rooms with large flat screen TV's. All rooms have a refrigerator and microwave at no extra cost. The room was very clean. The temperature controls are state of the art. The hot breakfast was above standard fare. The pool building was nice to relax in. There is also an exercise room with two cardio machines (but nothing else). There is a guest laundry. Parking is ample. I gave the management a suggestion (about the exercise facilities) and they were very receptive.

You would pay a lot more in major cities for this nice of a room + amenities. I originally booked only for one night, but I ended up staying for four nights total. You can see a lot of the national parks (Cedar Breaks, Zion) and hike by doing day trips from the Abbey Inn.

Very well kept property. Stayed 5 nights and could not have been more pleased with the room. We left late every morning to tour the area and when returning our room was immaculate every evening. Very conveniently located near freeway and downtown Cedar City. Pool and jacuzzi were clean too. I definitely would stay here again. They earned their good reputation!!

Stayed 9-9-2010 based on TripAdvisor reviews. Hidden gem is correct! Easy to find, super clean, nicely furnished and very comfortable. Courteous, professional staff; free hot breakfast in special building; next door to IHOP for other meals. Beats more expensive chains hands-down!

My wife and I have visited Cedar City every summer for the last 10 years. This was our second stay here. The rooms were extremely clean, comfortable, and had a very good bed. Unlike most hotels with free breakfasts, the breakfat at the Abbey Inn was actually edible. The breakfast staff was very friendly and gladly accomodated our seven month old baby.

My only two complaints from an otherwise near flawless stay is is the rates at the Abbey Inn can be a little pricey during the summer weekends (about $100 per night, but still comparable to other top hotels in Cedar City). We stayed Monday and Tuesday nights right after the peak tourist season ended (last week in August), so our rate was much better, around $80 per night. The second but minor complaint was the hot tub water was not nearly as warm as I would have preferred.

The Abbey Inn is at the top of my list of hotels I will stay at when in Cedar City.

This hotel is on the main drag like all of the others in Cedar City so you get some roadway traffic. It was the perfect stop on the way back to CA from Yellowstone NP. The room and bed were incredible and are much nicer than the exterior of the hotel appears. The breakfast was ok but nothing special.

So caveat s first: we arrived completely exhausted, after a five hour unplanned trip across the free-range desert. In the first two hours of darkness we had near misses with five large cows, a buck, and uncounted bats - and hit a jackrabbit. Luckily our emergency supply kit contained duct tape, or we would have been dragging the plastic undercarriage of our car the rest of the way to our planned stop in Caliente.

Ha. MAKE RESERVATIONS is what we learned - the first six places we tried to stay were filled up, and the last push to Cedar City near midnight nearly did us in. The Abbey Inn was an oasis of peace and gentility after that experience.

Even if we hadn't arrived near-insane, however, I do believe the Abbey Inn would be a fine place to stay. It was very clean, the guy at the front desk was both gorgeous and smiling, and in the morning we had a good breakfast at the house in back of the hotel, where they offer free eggs, sausages, waffles, cereal and such. My only complaint would be that the shower head was a bit low - but to make up for it, it was a very good showerhead with good water pressure, so I'd count that as a wash. A very very good motel.

I stayed at the Abbey Inn for 2 nights to attend the Shakespeare Festival. This is a motel with outside rooms. Our room was right by the stairs and very noisy. The toiletries were the bare necessities and there are no feather pillows available which I requested. There is a separate house where they prepare eggs and sausage (both the same the 2 days we stayed there) which was nice. There isn't too much choice though in Cedar City so I can't say much more.

We are sincerely sorry that your stay with us was not exactly what you were hoping for. Our staff really works hard and strives to provide the best product possible for you and yours. I have taken the list of concerns you had and will address them. You suggested to our staff that feather pillows should be kept on site, for those who have requested them. An excellent idea that will be looked into.
We are very proud of our free full hot breakfast. Our breakfast girls love to take care of our guests. We hope with the many choices there are, you will be able to stay multiple days and still eat something different, each day.
Thank you for your comments. We hope that you will return to see us again and with better results!
