This seems to be 1 of 2 BW hotels within blocks of each other, this one might be
the older of the two. But my room, near the pool, was a LARGE king bedded room, so
not sure about these other reviews(?). Had a fridge, microwave, coffemaker, wifi and the
complementary breakfast had all the normal offerings. Staff was pleasant.
Would stay here again if transitting area.

Experience a no tell motel at the Best Western El Ray Inn and Tiny Room at Cedar City, UT. Walk in room and and back out to leave. Shower becomes a swimming pool due to the poor drainage. The old ac unit too noisy to sleep with. Remodeling job would never pass a building inspector's check list. Not remodeled as told to us, just redecorated. Floor uneven, creaks and feels like you will fall in if you are not careful. Cracks in door allow weather to come in (or seep out) Lights from cars come through the door and flash on the walls. Echo of traffic on three sides. Had to pay three times as much as the room was worth. Very small and crowded. Choose the BW Town and Country Inn three blocks north. You will be much happier with your stay.

I am sorry we did not meet your expectations during your stay with us. The satisfaction of our guest is a priority. We have a rich history at the El Rey that takes us back to the 1940's. A large number of our guests have a tradition of staying with us for more than 50 years. We have received great comments and encouragement concerning our progress. We really appreciate the feedback from our guests. Thank you.

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. I was traveling with my two kids and dog. Staff was courteous and professional at all times. The property was being renovated while we were there and the front entrance was closed temporarily(had to drive around), but our room was nice. It had nice newer hardwood-looking tile which was nice and didn't seem to give that stuffy hotel room smell and seems cleaner overall. It is an older property so the room was smaller and we only had one chair in the room so we all had to eat our pizza while sitting on the beds! But even though it was smaller, there was no room above us so there was no noise coming from above to worry about. Beds were clean and comfy, we had a microwave and small fridge in the room. I was pleasantly surprised to find they had a kiddie pool and my 8 year old LOVED that their pool was 7 feet deep! But while I was at the pool with my kids, 3 boys that I had seen on skateboards that were clearly not guest made their way into the pool. As I was contemplating calling the front desk about this, the manager came and asked them to leave. I was very impressed and glad she did that.... They are a pet friendly hotel and I actually really enjoyed walking my dog out behind the property. There is a nice residential area behind the property and some decent grassy areas where it was ok to walk my dog. I wish there was more trash cans back there to dispose of dog waste, but for the price, it was great value. I would definitely recommend Cedar City and El Rey Inn!

The recent addition of pet rooms to our hotel has been proved to be a very positive thing. We are happy to accommodate your pets and offer a grassy place for them to play and such. We will be adding garbage facilities and bags to pick up after pets shortly. We are glad to hear your children enjoyed the pool. Thank you so much for staying with us!

Within walking distance of the Shakespearean Festival and mainstreet shops. Extremely small room, few outlets, small bathroom with the sink inside making it extremely difficult to share. Other hotels in the area are nicer and bigger for the same price or even cheaper!

We are happy to let you know that more outlets have been added to our rooms as part of our renovations. We know that this is an important amenity for our guests. One of the many things that our guest enjoy about the El Rey is our variety of rooms. For the benefit of our guests, we offer 10 different room types. These range from a comfortable room for two up to very large rooms for six guests. More than half of our rooms are very spacious and offer several hundred square feet of space. We hope that next time in Cedar City you will consider using one of our larger rooms. Thank you for staying with us.

All of the employees were very nice and helpful. They made me feel very appreciated as a guest. The beds were comfortable and the sheets were clean. The location is with in walking distance of the Shakespeare Festival (three short blocks).

The first thing to note is that this motel in downtown Cedar City is undergoing a major renovation. This in not mentioned on the Best Western website and I think it should be.

But whatever dread we felt when we saw that work was underway was dissipated almost immediately by the friendly and attentive staff. We spoke directly to the GM, who was both very friendly and accommodating.

Our upgrade room was clearly in the middle of the renovation process - new carpet and wallpaper had been installed but the case goods were in need of replacement. But the bed was comfortable and the room very quite despite being near the busy pool area.

The price includes the standard Best Western continental-plus breakfast, but the hotel has a deal with the adjacent restaurant that essentially gets you free beverages with your breakfast for $6 per person. You can purchase this better-breakfast option at the hotel's front desk.

The hotel is within walking distance of the campus of Southern Utah University, home of the excellent Utah Shakespeare Festival.

One thing that needs attention: the free wifi is terrible: extremely slow and difficult to get a connection.

Room Tip: I'd suggest a second floor room if you're near the pool. This place is very popular with fa...

Thank you for staying with us while visiting Cedar. We appreciate the positive comments about our renovations. We are striving to be the favorite hotel in Cedar City and the renovations are going well. We are working to have little impact on our guests stay as possible and appreciate your understanding while in the process. We do hope you will return and see the finished product.

Altogether very pleasant stay. Good area of town, just a short walk up the street to the Shakespeare Fest. Other rooms not noisy, even with little kids around. Very nice to have a small table and garden chairs outside each room! Cute and simple little outside pool, refreshing after travel. Beds were new and generally not too soft/not too hard, even though we prefer harder. (Looked up mattresses for online reviews and prices, since we liked them much more than we had expected and they are manufactured in the town we live in: They were pretty new according to the mattress label – 02/2014 – but, according to tons of reviews, the specific mattresses are fairly expensive, supposed to be great for about 8 mos, then sag in the center in a major way, resulting in pain, etc. – maybe the hotel should monitor this carefully.) This was a 3 queen room. 2 queens were in the back with a half room divider and 1 queen in the front with a table. Two TVs. Chairs were supportive and not too soft, however they had quite visible brown stains on brown chairs, hmmm. Also since there were 3 dispensers in the shower for shampoo, conditioner and body gel, it was a bit awkward that there was no hand soap at all, but just a little card at the sink telling us to call the desk if we had forgotten to bring anything... Hand soap is a hotel basic more than body gel, eh? However, we would still recommend; it suited our needs very nicely!

I am pleased that you enjoyed your time with us during the Shakespeare Festival. We receive good comments frequently on our mattresses. Thank you for checking the reviews, we will keep an eye on them. The dispensers are part of our efforts to reduce waste. I apologize that the hand soap was overlooked in your room. The staff at the desk is happy to run things like that to the room if needed. Thank you for choosing to stay with us. We hope to see you next year.
