Watching the Diablo's play is always a family friendly event, plus the rodeo and dirt bikes come here often.

“Cohen Stadium needs a team to live up to the venue”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 December 2012

I went to Cohen stadium as part of a company outing to a Diablos baseball game. If I had gone to see a "real" team, I would have rated this attraction higher. To be fair, this venue is a LOT nicer than any of the acts that it hosts. The people running it really seem to be trying hard.

There is plenty of seating and it seems to have a good view. Even though rain isn't much of an issue in El Paso, a lot of the areas are covered (this is probably a HUGE advantage for day games, since the sun here can be brutal).

There is a huge variety of concessions. There is standard "baseball" fare such as peanuts and popcorn, but some unique items as well (chili rellanos, taquitos - hey, this is El Paso).

They made a point of doing all of the "baseball" things (seventh inning stretch, etc.), had promotions going and all in all tried to make it seem "big leagues".

The one "weird" thing that this stadium had was a swimming pool (above-ground) that kids could play in during the game. I assume/hope that it was supervised, but I didn't let my daughter play in it.

Sadly, the Diablos are TERRIBLE...and things are only going to get worse. El Paso is building a new stadium downtown and has purchased a AAA team (currently the Tucson Padres). The end may be near for Cohen stadium, but the owners/staff really tried to make it a fun experience while they could.

“That picture is not Cohen stadium.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 October 2012

If im not mistaken that is a picture of the Abraham Chavez Theater. Back to the Diablos they are not very good at baseball. They will soon be replaced. The city has purchased a Triple A baseball that is affiliated with the San Diego Padres. We will be building a state of the art downtown ballpark. The new team is set to begin play for the 2014 season.
