My husband and I both ordered the evening's special of local Sea Bass, lightly sautéed and presented with an Asian salad with Avocado on a bed of lightly fried rice. The Asian flavouring (citrus, Cilantro, fish sauce?) delicately infused the whole plate, and the Sea Bass was cooked perfectly: nicely seared on the outside and very moist on the inside.

The restaurant's decor is "Eclectic Middle Eastern" (is there such a thing?) with a very casual, welcome feel. Our waiter, Gilbert, gave pleasant, professional service.

We would definitely eat there again.

Had business meeting in Ventura; met at the Peirano building in the historic district of this charming downtown. Food was interesting and delicious. It was a very comfortable place to sit and discuss business matters. Also there is a lovely patio facing a park and the Mission adjacent..a really great place.

A very nice Italian place. Friendly and nice menu. The food is excellent and the prices are better than in LA suburbs. We've now been there twice and liked it both times. We will definitely go back.

Two of us stopped in here for lunch on a weekday. We were celebrating our anniversary & thought the patio next to the fountain & across from the mission would be pretty & relaxing (it was). Two other parties of two walked in moments ahead of us so the 3 groups were seated at almost the same time. There was just one waiter for the whole place, which we didn't think would be a problem for 3 tables, even though they were spread out, but it took him 15 minutes to greet us and take our drink order. He apologized, saying they just got "slammed" (with 3 tables?) Our drinks were brought promptly and he took our order. Then the waiting began...45 minutes later our lunches arrived. This would have been excessive in any setting, but was compounded by the fact that we ordered some of the most simple dishes on the menu--the beet salad (sliced beets on a plate), a meat & cheese platter and a salad with grilled chicken. Not a lot to prepare here. The waiter apologized profusely for the delay and comp'd us another drink, but what was frustrating was that when our food arrived we had no utensils to eat it with (you'd think he would have noticed this since we had been sitting there for more than an hour at that point) and the kitchen forgot to add the chicken to the salad that had been requested, yet the waiter didn't notice.

The food was very tasty. The only complaint was the "pear & apple salad" was a plate of greens with about 6 walnuts and exactly 6 very thin slices of pears & apples (3 each)--not what we would have expected from the name of the dish. When the chicken arrived for the salad, it was delicious, unfortunately it took 15 minutes to arrive and 90% of the salad had been eaten, leaving most of it eaten alone.

Overall, while we enjoyed the atmosphere, the experience was disappointing & a serious let down on a special day.

To be fair, apparently lunch is new for them, so perhaps they are giving inexperienced wait staff & kitchen help the hours to practice when it is slow. The food was good enough that we may give it another try next time we are in Ventura, but only if we have plenty of time and aren't starving!

I've eaten here twice, yesterday and several years ago for Thanksgiving. The special thanksgiving dinner was OK, with all the trimmings although there was nothing Mediterranean about it. Yesterday we wandered in for a late lunch on St. Paddys day. We ordered a Vegan plate (Couscous, falafel, hummus, a weird red sauce that was stale and flacky, and tahini for the falafal) and loved the falafel and the couscous, but none of the other things on the tapas plate. We also split chicken on a stick (souvlaki) with a very spicy garlic sauce that was yummy. Finally we split the house salad, which was an expensive pile of nothing but lettuce, olives, and a few tomatoes, it was small and unsatisfying at $14 and it was impossible to share with the tiny micro plates they gave us. This place is way too expensive and the food is OK but not worth the prices. No wonder it was so empty! Main street was crazy busy and this restaurant was like a ghost town!
