Description: More than just a great steakhouse, Winchesters serves up the freshest seafood, succulent chicken, and even some exotic meats like venison, buffalo, and elk. But don’t forget about those Certified Angus Beef™ steaks. Whether it’s the massive Rib-Eye, the petite Top Sirloin, the New York or Tri-Tip they’re always thick and juicy and grilled to perfection. Lighter fare includes great burgers, salads and grilled sandwiches. Their forty draft beers along with extensive Wine and Martini lists will round out a truly memorable meal. Two heated patios and ample parking available.

Whether you are a local looking for some good eats or a traveller passing through town, if you are on the hunt for a great grill, this is it.

First off, the service was phenomenal. Every server and the manager made it their personal business to ensure that everyone was taken care of. Seriously: if we raised our heads and turned them more than 30 degrees from center, they would think you were looking for a server and somebody would come by.

Now the food. We spent two decades in Beijing, so when we saw the Fried Duck Strips on the menu, we had to try. We did, with skepticism. We were wrong. The duck was beautifully cooked, not greasy and full of flavor, and served on a bed of hand-cut french fries. What a delight, and their house-made honey-dijon dip was worth the whole trip. We could have sat all afternoon, just ordering things to dip into the sauce.

It was lunch, so we had sandwiches. I had the Duke's, a grilled chicken sandwich that was anything but standard. The chicken was tender and juicy, the vegetables fresh, the whole thing a delight. My son had the honey-mustard grilled chicken sandwich. You know how sometimes the sauce overwhelms the meat? Not here. The flavor was perfectly balanced, and I'm ordering that next time.

I cannot count the number of times we had driven by. We will not make that mistake again. Hands down the best bar/grill/saloon we've ever been in. If there was a category for a cowboy bistro, this would be the model. Really superb, and cannot wait to go back.

Food selection was varied and tasted great. Some not so usual selection included a elk or buffalo burger, fried duck strips encrusted with almonds, freshly made non greasy sweet potato chips, a huge selection of beers and the list goes on! Atmosphere was great with lot's of TV but low/no sound allowing you to talk with friends and quiet country western music (that apparently get's louder as the night progresses). Service was excellent and the price was right (about $25/person with one beer). A restaurant that I would definitely go back to on our return visit to Ventura.

Good food, great beer selection, indoor or outdoor eating available right on Main Street Ventura. Love to drive up from Los Angeles to eat their tri tip sandwich and dessert. Love the ecletic décor.

I came here with coworkers recently. The service was fantastic and attentive. The food was very good. We were all happy with this restaurant. Next time I'm in Ventura I'll have dinner here again.

Wanted a distinctive spot for dinner and found this restaurant. Free parking along side the restaurant was handy. This restaurant has both inside and outside areas and along Main Street adds to it attractiveness. From the menu we chose the mushroom appy with a glass of merlot and the elk burger with a nice dark ale. Plenty to eat and both of us enjoyed our meals. Elk burger was new to us and as stated on the menu was lean.

From quick seating to friendly knowledgeable service to a tasty meal all met out expectations. We plan to pop in again when wandering the downtown area.
