Whether you are a local looking for some good eats or a traveller passing through town, if you are on the hunt for a great grill, this is it.
First off, the service was phenomenal. Every server and the manager made it their personal business to ensure that everyone was taken care of. Seriously: if we raised our heads and turned them more than 30 degrees from center, they would think you were looking for a server and somebody would come by.
Now the food. We spent two decades in Beijing, so when we saw the Fried Duck Strips on the menu, we had to try. We did, with skepticism. We were wrong. The duck was beautifully cooked, not greasy and full of flavor, and served on a bed of hand-cut french fries. What a delight, and their house-made honey-dijon dip was worth the whole trip. We could have sat all afternoon, just ordering things to dip into the sauce.
It was lunch, so we had sandwiches. I had the Duke's, a grilled chicken sandwich that was anything but standard. The chicken was tender and juicy, the vegetables fresh, the whole thing a delight. My son had the honey-mustard grilled chicken sandwich. You know how sometimes the sauce overwhelms the meat? Not here. The flavor was perfectly balanced, and I'm ordering that next time.
I cannot count the number of times we had driven by. We will not make that mistake again. Hands down the best bar/grill/saloon we've ever been in. If there was a category for a cowboy bistro, this would be the model. Really superb, and cannot wait to go back.
