Soho Hibachi could easily be overlooked because it is located in a strip mall across from Carmike Cinemas Battlefield 10 in Fort Oglethorpe, GA. It is nestled between a nail salon and a Dominos Pizza. The food is delicious and the portions are huge. The service is great and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. And check out their restaurant score. It is 100! That's something you don't see very often. You can dine in or carry out and while the menu isn't huge there are plenty of options for hibachi or teriyaki dishes.

This place has been open since February of 2013 and despite the fact we have been past it dozens of times we never knew it existed until we read a glowing write-up about it in our local newspaper (Chattanooga Times and Free Press) this past Sunday and decided to give it a try. Its not a large place, only has seating for maybe 40 or so patrons and the menu is not as extensive as you might find in others, but it does have something for just about anyone who likes hibachi style Japanese food.

One thing for sure, you better bring your appetite because the serving portions are huge. Two people with average appetites could easily share a dish and be perfectly satisfied. Basically you have two choices or flavors for each dish served, hibachi and teriyaki with the latter being slightly sweeter than the former. The price is the same for either. Lunch prices range from $5.25 for an all vegetable plate (you get generous amount of vegetables with every choice including meat dishes) to $ 11.25 for several combinations such as the filet and shrimp, filet and scallops, etc. Dinner prices range from $7.95 to $15.95 for the same combinations stated above. A very large portion of fried rice came with each choice. When we were there I had the scallops hibachi style and my wife had the steak and shrimp combination teriyaki style. Both were very good to excellent in my opinion.

In addition to the hibachi choices the restaurant does offer a few soup selections (they looked delicious) and a few stir fry selections as well as two or three appetizers.

As already mentioned the portions served were really large; the fried rice that came with each meal would equal the amount of rice that three people would get with a normal meal at most Asian establishments -- it was that large. You actually get your choice of rice, i.e. white rice, fried rice, brown rice or noodles if you prefer. A small side salad was just $ 0.50 extra with any meal but it mostly consisted of some lettuce and some thin sliced carrots but given how large the entre portions were, I'm glad it wasn't bigger.

The bottom line is this restaurant is well worth the price. The food was above par, service was great, and you will not go home hungry. In fact, most people end up taking food home with them.

For anyone travelling in north west Georgia along the I-75 corridor and want a really satisfying meal, take exit 350 west (Battlefield Pkwy) toward Ft. Oglethorpe, GA, go about 5.5 miles and the Soho Hibachi restaurant will be on your left tucked away in the middle of a strip mall. You won't regret it.

This small Japanese restaurant is big on service and quality! We enjoyed their "Grand Opening Special" for dinner which was a choice of teriyaki or hibachi chicken for only $7.50. The serving was huge and after eating our fill, we had enough to take home for lunch the next two days! The entrée comes with your choice of fried or white rice, or lo mein. Also plenty of vegetables. The same special is available for lunch at only $5.50. The lady who took our order asked if it was our first visit there and checked with us several times to make sure we had everything we needed. Soup or salad were also available at a modest .50 each. The restaurant was spotlessly clean and everything still looked in brand new condition, even though they have been open almost a year. This will be one of our favorites, for dine-in as well as carry out. I look forward to trying their other menu items soon!
