I keep trying to get into the state park in town because there's electricity there, but it's always full, so this keeps being the best back-up plan I've ever had. The drive up to the rim, where the campground is located, can be a bit of a nail-biter if you're not used to mountain switchbacks, but the view from the top is unsurpassed. The amenities are sparse (no electricity, cold water only at the restrooms), but at least there are flush toilets. No tent pads, and it's a bit challenging to find level spots, but it's a hidden gem with a secluded feel just a short drive from the main thoroughfare between Denver and Salt Lake City.
Visit nps.gov/colm for lots more info about the park.
