The room was very clean (our HOT button!) Suggest not getting a room over the bar as we could hear the noise from the St. Patrick's Day party below (used the air conditioner fan to block sound). The next (non-party) night was fine. The staff was very considerate and accomodating. The picnic lunch is a STEAL at $7! It was a very nice touch having a bag with bottled water and snacks in the room.

The restaurant was very good. The grilled rock shrimp dinner was excellent.

We had the good fortune to stay at the Riverview Hotel last week for a couple of nights.....what a great place !!.....The building itself is on the National Historic registery and is quite old, but very charming, clean and comfortable......We had a corner room upstairs with views in two directions of the river....antique furniture and plantation shutters on the windows.......Felt like I was staying at my grandma's house, right down to the kitty in the lobby.......continental breakfast in the sunny lounge and they even make a great box lunch to take to Cumberland for a day trip !!

Hubby and I travel frequently, but had never ventured to this part of the states. Were headed to Savannah, but thanks to our new TomTom, made a spontaneous side trip to a little place we found on the net called Historic St. Marys. Once in St. Marys, we found the Riverview Hotel, a charming 18-room Inn with a fantastic restaurant and outrageous saloon! This place is amazing! It's like traveling thru time! The innkeepers were real people! No snooty hotel staff here. Here were the owners attending to all our needs, making us feel like we were the only guests there when actually they had a full house, not to mention a full bar and restaurant! We actually spoke leisurely with them in the lobby over cocktails for at least 20 minutes. We were given an impromptu history lesson of the city's rich history. It was great. The rooms were clean & charming. There was an incredible little gift shoppe, the food was to die for and like I said, the saloon was outrageous! This stop definitely made our whole trip. We are already planning a return visit!

We have been staying at the Riverview for 20+ years. They have remodeled and it is a wonderful place to stay. The bathrooms are gorgeous as well as the new decor. Of course, we love the history of the Riverview.

We spent the weekend of Thanksgiving in St. Marys, Ga. We were looking for a place to stay that was close to the Ferry for Cumberland Island Nat. Seashore. The Riverview Hotel met that requirement as it is as close as you can get (right across the street). This Hotel is not to be missed if you enjoy a charming establishment that is historical, beautiful, and a great place to stay. They have recently restored the Riverview and the rooms are furnished with lovely antiques. The rooms were clean and comfortable, showers up to date, lovely views of the riverfront. The owners were gracious and helpful. We flew in to the St. Marys airport (the airport waived the tie down fee with fuel purchase)and had transportation to and from the airport thanks to the hotel owner and manager. They also have a restaurant (Seagles) that we were very happy with. Great food, service and a very pleasant atmosphere. If you are looking for a place that is not run of the mill, has warmth and charm, great hosts, great food and "alittle" off the beaten path try the Riverview Hotel. It has all of these. I would stay there again; and hope too. This was a destination we will always remember.

Our visit to the Riverview was delightful. The personable owners made it feel more like a Bed & Breakfast. They have done a nice job with the renovations.....making the rooms more up-to-date without loosing the charm of the last century. If you're a history buff and appreciate a little step back in time, you will enjoy your stay at the Riverview. Can't wait to return to see the latest improvements. Keep up the good work Gaila & Jerry!

If you have been fans of the Riverview Hotel in St. Marys, GA you are in for a real treat. The hotel is being restored from head to toe. The owners have reclaimed the magnificant 200 year old heart pine flooring; the bathrooms are being completely redone from top to bottom and with water saving showers & toilets, tile floors and travertine tub surronds. All the renovations are being done in conjunction with the Historic Preservation Society. The owners gave us a tour and explained what their plans are. No more complaining, trust me! We were able to take a peek at some of the work being done and I guarantee you it's going to be fantastic all the way around. We were so happy to see the original owners are still there, and how much they appreciate the family history and all their friends from over time. Check it out. We always stay at the Riverview Hotel whenever we visit Cumberland Island and St. Marys. Wouldn't stay anywhere else!
