Went there for Mother's Day and were overwhelmed by the friendliness of the staff.
The food was excellent. The lunch menu prices are super.
The wanton noodles, duck sauce and the hot tea were on the table (no charge either) right after we sat down. Some of our former Chinese stops charged us extra for the noodles and charged by the cup for hot tea. That ran us off from them and we came to North China on the recommendation of friends. We will become regulars.
I had to look twice at the bill to make sure they had not overlooked anything. Easy on the pocketbook.

North Village caters to both the American and real Chinese tastes. The food here is like it was in China. It's hard to get any better than that. The location is close to University of Dayton and surrounded by uniform chain restaurants. Break your chains and come here.

I haven't tried the American Chinese menu and don't plan to; people keep coming back for it, so it's probably good. The authentic Chinese menu is incredible, but it can be hard to order if you don't know anything about it. But, in the end it's worth it to step outside your box.

Some suggestions we like:

Szechuan Swai Fish - spicy boiled fish with cabbage, this is very good and very spicy.
Spicy and Sour Potato - julienned potatoes cooked to perfection with a slightly sour and spicy sauce
Pai goo - fried pork, always a favorite, little spicy
Seafood chowder - not spicy, but a very wholesome soup. Very good
Garlic Eggplant - slightly sweet, with an authentic sauce that will be familiar to eaters of American Chinese

The owners are very friendly and helpful.
