So enjoy the once a month "Arts Walk". Many mediums & nice sampling of wines & appetizers throughout. Get your GPS coordinates on their website if you are not familiar w/Bradenton. I go every year when we are visiting from up "nawth".

“Not worth it”
Reviewed 1 February 2014 via mobile

On a Saturday at noon there were many closed businesses including the bakeries. The "art" galleries are mostly rundown houses painted brightly with mediocre crafts that are not worth buying. Lots of recycled trash art and brightly colored pieces. We drove 30 mins to get here and were very disappointed

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts, we are disappointed that you didn't have a positive experience. It is true that not everyone is open all the time. We do keep an updated website where individual businesses list their hours, www.villlageofthearts.com. We are a unique arts village made up of businesses, residences, studios, restaurants, boutiques and more. Some folks only open during our popular monthly artwalks, others are open daily. We recognize that some folks want/need something more structured and hope folks that identify that way will join us during an artwalk. Other people like to explore and are open to having an experience outside their expectations and may have a very different experience than you. I will say also that business owners take a lot of pride in their curb appeal. This is an area of 1920-1940 homes, many lovingly restored and cared for. We have a range of galleries that include traditional fine art, folk/outsider art and lots in between. There are two restaurants open 5-6 days per week with lunch and dinner. Anyway, we do appreciate that you took the time to explore the Village of the Arts and regret it didn't meet your expectations. I hope you give us another chance at some point down the road!

“Great place to stroll in Bradenton. Colorful cottages, lovely galleries and restaurants.”

I love the Village of the Arts. Perfect? No. Are galleries always open? No. It's quirky and different. A wonderful oasis in this age of uniformity and chain shops. Charming bungalows painted in vibrant colors and great restaurants too!

“Really check your calendar!”
Reviewed 10 October 2013

Don't go here during most of the summer months as a lot of the shops are closed. Those you can find open are very intriguing albeit expensive at times. Great place to go and walk around, but shoot for the fall. Nice little restaurants too.

KrazyKoko, thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts on the Village of the Arts. We appreciate your feedback. The dog days of summer are a time when some of our business owners take time to travel, reset their creativity buttons and spend time with family. We're sorry not every business was open for you to enjoy on your recent trip, but it sounds like you did get to enjoy a few. The Village is a unique place and always evolving. We have some businesses who are open daily from 10-6, others who are open 5 days a week and some who are open only during our monthly artwalks. Most galleries and businesses are open on Fridays and Saturdays from 11am-4pm, with the cafes having extended hours. The monthly artwalks are a great chance to see the most places at once. The artwalks are held the first Friday (6-9:30pm) and Saturday (11am-4pm) of each month. We hope you will come back and explore the Village further! Three new galleries opened for the October artwalk and we have some special events planned for fall. All of our events are listed on our website, Villageofthearts.com. Thanks again!

“Don't Waste Your Time”
Reviewed 11 July 2013

I probably found this "village" via tripadvisor/things to do. From the pictures, it looked like a quaint/quirky place to spend some time.

Please don't waste your time as we did! It is run-down and we were afraid to even stop the care. Area is very poor, shabby, and gives you an uncomfortable feeling.

Marsha K, Ouch! We appreciate your honesty, but it is hard to hear this about our community. Residents and business owners have been working hard since 1999 to restore this community and make it a special place. Like many communities we have seen our fair share of foreclosures and delinquent properties pop up, but we are working hard with the city and other resources to battle this problem. Many of our business owner and residents take great pride in the curb appeal of their property. We always have room to improve and we will use your feedback to assess what visitors may be experiencing. I hope you will give us another chance, perhaps during an artwalk when many visitors are out-and-about. We have a lovely holiday walk coming on Friday, Dec. 6 from 6-9:30pm, with strolling carolers, vintage holiday displays and more. We do hope you will try us again and have a better experience.
