“Great Spot!”
Review of Sands Casino

Not gonna lie, I was a little worried a casino in Bethlehem PA wouldn't be the best place to spend a Saturday but I was very pleasantly surprised. Clean and relatively modern, great restaurant options (Emeril!?) and an outlet mall with really great shopping attached. Gambling floor was large and mostly clean. A little too much smoking for my tastes, but hey, it's a casino. All in we had a great day!

smallish by Vegas standards. About 4 - 5 craps tables, 3000 slots. Only negative: The bars didn't open til 4:30 on Saturday. huh?

The Bethlehem Sands really makes you appreciate the quality of service you get from top casinos in Vegas (e.g. Belagio et al). The dealers at the Sand's craps tables are invariably untrained, stressed out, new recruits. The 'box person' usually isn't much better - they tend to spend the maorty of theitime berating their untrained, stressed out dealers. They must have signifcant turnover since the dealers always seem to be in training. The drink service is also terrible - I've waited 45-60 minutes to get a drink at the craps table. Also tend to get some attitude from the young, unprofessional, "cocktail waitresses". Lastly, the Sands gambling card is useless at the table games. I've been playing $15 craps for 20+ visits over the last year and I think I've possibly earned about $10 in comps!! I don't get it. Friends play $20 in a slot machine and earn free dinner eveytime?? Anyway - overall, nice casino - but, don't expect professional, trained staff.

I don't usually go to many casinos, but we do like it here. The casino is relatively large and new. There is a mall attached which has a nice selection of stores especially the Peeps Store which is my favorite. Also at the casino, they have a really nice hotel and a convention center. Don't expect to win, just go to have a good time. While your there walk a half mile to see the old Bethlehem Steel Plant.

The casino was fine, pretty typical, slots, tables, all of the necessities. I did like that large selection of the penny slots and the vast array of themed games (the Wizard of Oz or Monopoly type, but several more as well). There is a smoking and non-smoking section, but all of it has a subtle stale-smoke smell to it (not too bad though). There is also a buffet and food court with several options.
What is really cool is the building and area itself. The casino is part of the Steel Stacks campus (search for Steel Stacks) which is awesome. It's all an old steel work factory that is being "upcycled" into a beautiful functioning heritage site, I am very impressed that they are leaving it all up and using what is already there instead of tearing it down and building over it.
